Cheap bridesmaid dresses in west yorkshire area...

kelly1988, 26 January, 2012 at 19:50 Posted on Planning 0 14

Got a problem....all my bridesmaids have said they are happy paying for their dresses, then today went to have a look at some that all of them like and I like but its £195 (is this about right or is there some that are cheaper?)

These are from the bridal shop I got my wedding dress from (already with a discount), but 1 of them are saying that it's too much because shes getting married this year too but all the others are happy to pay it.......

.....don't know what to do, does anybody know any other places that would do cheaper dresses???

Where a outs are you? I've found most shops similar prices but it's designers that are expensive, for example I found a dressy BM dress I liked but was 230 ended up with a very similar one from romantica for 170 x

Have you tried Amazing Brides at the bottom of Westgate in Wakefield? I know she does a few 'budget' lines in both wedding and bridesmaid dresses but not sure whether they are off the peg or to order. The other option is the department stores as others have mentioned such as BHS,Monsoon, Debenhams, M & S etc.

I think you definitely need to respect your friend's wishes on what she can and can't afford. Personally, if I was letting my bms pay for their own dresses I'd be giving them some guidelines colour wise and just letting them all pick their own. That way they can find something in their price range and that they'll wear again. Or I would at least be choosing them from the highstreet so it wasn't costing my good friends a fortune to attend my wedding.

I also found bridesmaid dresses to be expensive - I have ended up going to a local dressmaker - she is charging between £70 & £100 per dress. Much less than the ones in the shops. In fact I'm taking my flower girls for measuring tomorrow - Very excited!!!

I was thinking about going to a local dressmaker but wasnt too sure.....

.....the saga continues still, i've looked at Meadowhall and couldn't find any dresses I liked and there wasn't a lot of red dresses about.

I've also rang around bridal shops like Gorgeous brides, celebrations in ossett etc.. but it's hard to get all the bridesmaids together and they start from £125 to £225

    Online or second-hand store ,

A lot of people sell them on ebay, or on a local site like kijiji or craigslist.maybe you could try

I found some lovely dresses in Monsoon at an outlet (Junction 32). They would've been £180 but I got them for £40. Not sure if they had any red ones, but worth a look! ?

My friend got hers from a shop on ebay called huiyunkitty and it was £39.99. I have seen it and its gorgeous. You can either buy a size or she will make them if you send the measurements. I am thinking of getting my BM dress from there xx

As well as the main high street stores; Debenhams, House of Fraser, Monsoon etc try Coast. They have gorgeous dresses and a number of people I know have gone there for BM dresses and half the price of wedding dress shops. Dont forget on top of the price of the dress in a specialised store there may be alterations. Both my BM's had to have alterations which added up to a total of £80 on top of the dresses at £180 each...
