Cheap but elegant save the dates?!?

August 24 Bride, 28 June, 2022 at 18:40 Posted on Planning 0 7
Hello,

Can anyone help a girl out and let me know the best and cheaper websites/shops who do save the dates?
I’ve got around 140 guests to invite and am admiring the travel map sort of theme with my wedding being in Ireland.
I’ve looked at Etsy, dazzle and not on the high street but all comments welcome xxx

    I have had a look on Vistaprint, there's some lovely ones on there! Also you can create your own on Canva for free and then just have to print them out if thats something you could do xx

    We're getting married in Cornwall, which is a "destination" for the majority of our guests, so I guess a similar situation for yours in Ireland by your phrasing?

    We actually bought a load of postcards and used those as our save the dates! Super cheap and also personal because we handwrote the details on them.

    For our invites I'm making them on Canva, slightly more expensive than the post cards but still a lot cheaper than other sites out there.

    We used Vistaprint for Save the Dates and actual invitations, just used one of their designs which suited our colour scheme. Good value and service as had to get in touch when they did not send enough envelopes. The only slight issue we had was not having enough matching stationery for the wedding day so we didn’t end up with matching table cards or name cards for instance. We went with a seller on Etsy in the end and it doesn’t all match but I’m not precious about it to be honest as everyone will have forgotten the colour of the invites by now!

    If you have the time and patience, you could make your own.
    I made my ‘save the dates’ by creating a design and then pasting on to a label template on Word and printed them on magnet paper. Effectively 60 business card sized fridge-magnet ‘save the dates’ cost me less than £10 with the only cost being the magnet paper. People can then either stick them on the fridge or pin them to a notice board as the paper is thin enough to put a pin through.

    I went for these very cheap and not hideous.
    My invitations and save the dates came to £10 but I am having a small wedding. Ebay is great for them I did get a nice pen and write them myself which kept down the cost. You could even get them printed yourself. Lots of ideas in the comments.

    Agree with the other posts, I'd really recommend Canva! Very easy to use and if you have access to a printer and some quality card paper you can print them at home - you can use the free trial for a few more features if you're only planning to use it for save the dates.

    Stationary shops like Paperchase often have packs of generic save the dates. And then cheapest way I can think of is sending digital save the dates. We did our actual invites as physical invites, but sent digital save the dates, which we made on Canva - we had little GIFs for each (like wedding related GIFs from Friends, Simpsons, etc.) and sent them via WhatsApp, which I'm sure some will think is tacky haha, but the physical invites were classier I promise, and it didn't cost us a thing ( ;

    If you want to go digital but send them in a nicer way, you could also use Paperless Post!
