Cheap table covers for DIY village hall reception?

50's pin up bride, 17 June, 2012 at 16:24 Posted on Planning 0 6

I was recommended some tablecloths by a friend, sold as 'plastic but soft feel' - sadly they are not what I thought (instead they're more like the feel of thick bin-liners!) so we need to think again. We think the plastic ones would be a useful base layer in case of spills etc, and already have organza runners sorted, but need something between. Even high quality / heavy / thick paper covers would be good as we could gather all rubbish up inside them and chuck straight in the bin at the end of the night.

Any recommendations? We'd need about 14 white, 2 black and 1 red covers for oblong tables.

Have you tried your local cash and carry? A lot of them sell catering tablecloths on a roll and are soft feel but quite thick so they drape better than the paper ones. Any catering suppliers should sell them.

Try having a peek at the stuff on here - http://www.partiesrus.co.uk/ShowProducts.aspx?PageID=815&pmo=3

I know they have a lot of 'theme' stuff but there's sometimes plain stuff on there too, and hey, some of the themed things are pretty decent Smiley smile

Primark? Poundland? QD stores? Wilkinsons? Agree that the white sheets could be used.

Linen like tablecloths, try bluejigsaw you can order a sample they are by dunilin and feel like soft linen although are paper, they are thick and look and hang just like linen does at a fraction of the cost but dont look cheap, i have bought 6ft round ones for our tables and they do them in all shapes and sizes x
