Cheap wedding photographers in Devon (or anyone who is willing to travel)

suzjackson, 31 of January of 2011 at 22:25 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hi all me and my partner are getting married on the 7th August 2011 in Devon at The Tunnels Beaches. We have been looking at photographers but have found that the cheapest price seems to be £900-£1250. We are only in a position to spend £500 due to our budget. We are willing to have a student photographer looking to build a portfolio or any other competitively priced one, I would appreciate any advice asap as I need to get this booked very soon.

Thanks

Suz

We've just booked with a guy called Mike Burns who has just turned professional. He has quoted us £200 for 5 hours but this only includes edited HQ photos on a disk so that we can print them ourselves. His work is really good though, and he does whatever you want. We're on a tight budget for a photographer so he suited us perfectly.

ETA He's based in Bristol but does travel. Our wedding is in Somerset. His email is ********************@*****.***

I remember that location well....in the late 60s we spent several years in that region on holiday. I remember the sea swimming pool area through the tunnel.......

For your budget, I would suggest looking for a tog that will give you the coverage and high resolution images on a memory stick (cds are too flaky to be long term reliable) That way, once you have more spare money, you can create you album.

    Hey Peter,

I've been considering moving to memory sticks but can't find any with a lock on (like on an SD card). I'm a bit concerned that a bride will accidentally format the thing.

Deletion is an issue, although ones like linked below are available. Specifically, these ones are engravable which makes them stand out from normal over the counter memory sticks. One side could be the bride and grooms names and your company could be on the other side or more detail such as wedding venue.

10th Planet (https://www.10pdm.com/services/replication/custom-usb) do custom USB sticks in the UK - but not engraving on both sides to personalise them.

Hmm, if that's all there is I'll stick to unerasable discs.

I always supply a backup for the couple to use and always advice that they back the disc up themselves anyway.

My concern is that kids may be attracted to the 'different' memory stick or that windows may try to 'fix' a disk by initialising it.

Unless you can get a read only card it's just risky. I never usually delete my work and everything is Raid10 but it was just an issue of disaster recovery I was thinking of doing.

    Hi there,

I cover the whole of the UK, my prices are little over your quoted budget but I'm sure we could work something out as I'm available on your date.

Get in touch if you would like a quotation.

    Sam. x

My OH's brother is a photographer just starting out in Devon - he's done one wedding at the Tunnels last year...

    http://www.ianfryphotography.co.uk/index.html

or you can check him out on Facebook where I think you can see some photos from when he was there.

Congrats on a gorgeous venue - we looked around the Tunnels but couldn't afford it in the end...
