childrens wedding favours

chicken82, 16 January, 2009 at 09:49 Posted on Planning 0 9

I really like the idea of the activity pack favours you get for kids. Ive been looking online and the price and quality seems to vary. I like the eventsmile stuff, but is a little pricey really. Has anyone else used any of these companies or have you made your own kids favours? Any other suggestions?

I made my own, I got things like colouring books and pencils from the pound shop. I only had one child so I kept collecting things running up to the wedding - such as toys from happy meals. I also put some sweets in the box, some craft stuff. All kinds of little bits that would keep her entertained. The pound shop is great for stuff. Put it all in a nice box. I think mine probally cost about £4 at the most as I had a suitable box, got a free freebies from my friend who's a childrens librarian and raided the pound shop.

I made my own. Bought little gift bags and put a mini colouring book, pens, polystyrene aeroplanes (we had a big garden area outside), some other (quiet) bits in it (can't remember what I'm afraid!) and then a disposable camera and instructions for the photo challenge in it. I also wrote their names on them and it was the job of one of my bridesmaids to give them out. They didn't cost loads and the kids and parents were really pleased with them!

I bought the bits on ebay.

I'm planning on making my own. I've got 4 children (incl step daughter), and have lots of experience of childrens parties (!!) and it's always much cheaper to do it yourself.

Ebay is great obviously, but also Wilkinsons and The Range are brilliant for cheap bits. Also check out your £1 type shop.

What was your photo challenge? Sounds like a good idea!

It was - think I stole the idea from someone on here!!! Each kid had a disposable camera, and a list of things they had to take a picture of eg - the biggest hat, people kissing, the best shoes, something sparkly, the bride and groom etc etc (I have the list at home, PM me and I'll send it over!), so they had to take pics of all those things, and the person with the most pictures of the right things won a prize. They put the cameras in the wedding post box, and I got the photos developed when I got back from honeymoon and sent the prize out in the post! Although they all took such great pictures that I ended up sending them all a little prize!

We are doing goody bags. I will be buying bits and bobs from the party bag section in our local toy shop and will also be doing the photo challenge.

We did the photo challenge and used this:

We bought our bags online and they were great, but I can't remember the name of the site and am on the wrong computer to check the favourites. Sorry. Will try to remember to check for you on Monday.
