Choosing a veil

Tamaryn, 16 March, 2022 at 09:37 Posted on Wedding Attire 0 8
Hi all,

I am really struggling to decide on a veil. I don't want one from the dress shop because I'm not keen to spend £50+ on an accessory I'll wear but once (bad enough with the cost of the dress). I've had a look on etsy and amazon as people have suggested but I'm still nervous. I don't want to buy one and discover the material is stiff or course. Part of it stems from a gag veil my mother bought me which, you guessed it, is stiff and course. I would love a plain 1 or 2 tier elbow length veil that's light and flowy and soft (might be asking for too much?). Do any of you have recommendations? Any etsy or amazon links to share.
Please and thanks 😊

I got mine from jjshouse - same as you, couldn’t face the prices in the shops! The quality is great, and I couldn’t be happier. I wanted a fairly long drop veil (thanks Catherine Middleton for putting that idea in my mind 😂) and it was less than £30 including shipping. They have a pretty good selection!

I bought mine from ali express, paid 21£ and it is gorgeous 😍 but unfortunately it is very long and doesn't pull my head a bit so I will have to shortening a bit.Choosing a veil 1

I can't believe there's a veil for £7 on there. Would be too nervous about the quality of that bit you're right there are some good options. Thanks

It's fine, I bought a lot of wedding decorations, veil and shoes from there, very cheap and good quality 😊

I haven't ordered one myself, so can't say for certain, but a lot of etsy sellers will send you a swatch of the fabric they use for a small fee if you message them.

Honestly, tulle is a very cheap fabric so there’s no reason for a veil to cost much money. I had some concerns but for £30 I personally decided it was worth the risk, and like I said the quality of my veil is fantastic. No way anyone will know the purchase price was £16 😂

I went to my local oxfam bridal boutique, I found a brand new 3 tier pearl edged veil with the original £85 price tag still on....they sold it for eight pounds - I practically danced out of the shop! Have a look in your local area to see if there's any you might be able to visit. Charity bridal boutiques/events are well worth a look. We've also purchased a veil for my sister in law to be from Ali Express in a champagne. It cost less than £10 , it was 2 tier and raw edged but so soft and silky, lovely finish, we were really impressed and the shipping was fast so it's worth a look (I'd suggest just looking at online sellers that have lots of picture reviews to verify the quality). Good luck!
