Choosing a venue

Charlotte, 7 January, 2021 at 09:02 Posted on Planning 0 3
Hello,
We have recently got engaged and hoping for a 2022 wedding. We have a date in mind and have seen two venues we really like the look of. Only issue is we can’t physically go and look at them at the minute due to Covid!
We can only get virtual tours at the moment! Has anyone else had this? Did you feel you saw all you wanted and it made your decision? We don’t want to miss out on our date if we can help it. Fingers crossed we can actually have weddings next year to! Thank you

Hi congratulations on your engagement. I found my venue etc pre COVID so was able to view places and what I would say is my 2 favourite places that I looked at online - one of which had a kind of virtual tour on the website - both were not right when I saw them in person. The virtual tours may well and have probably improved since COVID but I don’t think I could pick a place without seeing it in person. Things like road noise you won’t be able to gauge at all (this was an issue with one we saw)
    Good luck in finding somewhere

Congratulations on the engagement! We got engaged in November and started planning for 2022. We managed to squeeze in 3 viewings and love 2 of the venues, both having good availability for our preferred date. Obviously now we can’t look in person at any more! Dilemma - do we wait? keep looking virtually and risk losing a date at somewhere we like? Or book what we have seen and crack on? Lots of discussions this week.
Personally going to view a venue is much more telling, you get that ‘feeling’ you can’t do that online. Photos and virtual tours haven’t compared - they either oversell the good bits or don’t get the mood. Very much Pinterest ideals!

    Good luck!!

Here’s my two pence. I booked my venue after seeing in person. Off the back of your message I’ve now gone to their website to see the virtual tour- though the virtual tour is great it is nothing compared to the in person tour when you can ask questions and see images of weddings with similar themes to our intended.
That is to say- if you like the virtual tour you will likely love the venue in person.

As a April 2021 bride (please Boris please) I say don’t let the restrictions hold you back, push ahead, ask the questions, look at the Instagram images etc. Good luck.
