Christening gift for goddaughter - help please!

lambi, 18 June, 2008 at 20:30 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 14

I'm struggling to find the perfect gift, I've seen engraved cutlery, painted plates etc. but still have no idea what to get my goddaughter for her christening. Any ideas would be appreciated! I want to find something that she can keep when she is older and that won't get dumped in two years time! thanks

I bought my own twins adult charm bracelets and intend to add charms on special ocassions until they're grown up.

Can I suggest that you don't buy Willow Tree figurines or Snow Babies. Or a wee box for the first tooth. The girls got some nice jewellery.

I'd have liked maybe some "classic" books and a bible I think, but no one got them anything like that.

I've just got my niece and nephew (twins) a complete set of Beatrix Potter and Whinnie The Pooh Books - all in nice presentation boxes.

What about an adult's locket? I got one when I was christened and it's something I can still wear now. I also gave one as a christening present.

Davy was given the most beautiful carved antique silver spoon. just stunning. (if you look closely it's carved with baby's name, date of birth and weight) https://www.hairygrowler.co.uk/commissionsbirth.htm

My twins got one of these for their Christening and they are beautiful and fun as well.

The ducks spin on the magnetic surface, it is hard to describe how fab it is.

The other best present they got was a sand and water table for the garden ?

They also got some cutlery, some nice books, some clothes etc

there's some nice stuff on here. MissSun was given the wooden pram with her name painted on it. She also has the birth certificate holder, much nicer than the silver one IMHO and we keep our marriage certificate in it aswell.

I also like the treasure/keepsake boxes, my parents had one when we were growing up that we loved to look through, they still have our first birthday/birth cards now and I've kept MissSun's and all her name tags from hospital etc.

Wow charm bracelets are a propular idea aren't they. I was going to suggest that, or a set of classic books. I bought my niece a set of Winnie The Pooh in a chest, about 20 books altogether, it's lovely.

I really like the locket idea to.
