It's a Wonderful Life is a very old film and it's also one of my favourites. My daughter bought me it on DVD a couple of years ago, but I'd seen it several times growing up.
I fell upon The Christmas Visitor whilst channel flicking and although it's a bit cheesy and crap acting, it really got me going!
We're driving up to my mum's for Christmas on the 20th (staying for 9 days, YAY!!) and on the 21st, the three of us won't be leaving the house. I so far have Love Actually, The Holiday, White Christmas and Miracle on 34th Street lined up. I'll be spending the day wrapping and it will be perfect.
I must try to get IAWL too, although if it's going to make me cry, I should probably watch that on my own. ?
I know! It was awful! but I think it was because my son has been talking about joining the army, and the film was based on a son joining the army and dying etc (you've seen it) and I just got over whelmed with emotion lol!
i cry at the bit where emma thompson thinks she's getting the necklace she found, and in fact its that crappy cd. which in itself is actually a thoughtful gift from him for once. ?
that's my present wrapping movie. mrs m, how many presents do you have to wrap that you need four films? ?
my favourite is 'bad santa' but its far from a weepy ?
I cry at everything too. It's a Wonderful Life is beautiful though, I love it. Must dig it out of the cupboard and have a slobby day with hot chocolate, marshmallows and Christmassy films.
I'm terrible for crying in films, apart from the obvious ones like IAWL I also bawl at Elf - the bit at the end where thay all start singing to help Santa's sleigh fly, Muppets Christmas Carol - the bit where Tiny Tim has died in the future (it gets me every time), The Santa Clause 2 - when he suprises the staff with secret santa gifts they'd always wanted as children, Love Actually - from the beginning when Hugh Grant talks about 9/11, the list goes on...
"The Snowman" makes me cry. I love the music, the story and it brings back such lovely memories of christmas as a child. The boy also has a passing resemblance to our little boy (fluff icon!)
And I also love "Its a Wonderful Life" Mrs M, I think you will LOVE it. Its a real feel good movie, and you have to give it right to the end, unlike Phoebe in "Friends" ?
I love a good Christmas movie, but its those two that get me going.
My son who's 3 loves this film - it's so a nice Christmassy film and I must admit although having had to see it nearly every day since November it hasn't lost it's charm! Its the music and the bit at the end when he's talking about hearing the bell ringing! Brings a lump to my throat.
I too stumbled across movies24 today. Cried at a film with Dougie Howser MD in it (not sure if it's the one the OP is referring to) and later on cried at blinkin' Steel Magnolias ?
