Church and then village pub reception

Isabel, 6 October, 2022 at 16:20 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hello!

We are planning on getting married in our village church and then having our reception in the village pub afterwards with a sit-down meal, we won't be having a huge number of guests (around 40 to 45), mostly family with a couple of friends. I am feeling excited about our plans but my only worry is entertainment at the pub reception, once we have had our sit-down meal I am struggling to think of ideas for entertainment for our guests as it is only a small venue - any ideas would be hugely appreciated!

Thank you Smiley smile

Are you getting exclusive use of a space? If so could you have a DJ or singer? Or you could just have a playlist on spotify and hook up to a Bluetooth speaker for music.

Are you wanting a full evening do? The above would be a good option but if is for an hour or so after maybe a magician or some games.

Why do you need entertaining? Dinner them mingling and chatting could well be enough. I've been to a few massive dinners (work etc) with over 200 people. We have drinks, we sit, we eat, a few speeches then 'work the room' enjoy catching up, chatting, being with family and friends. We aren't having a disco for our reception, just Spotify music not too loud as we aren't really dancy people and don't think we really need it.
If you wanted something lighthearted maybe a Mr&Mrs style quiz? Or sweepsteak for how long the speeches are? Or wedding bingo?
I don't think (and hope) adults don't need a load of planned fun or entertainment, if they do, they'll be disappointed at our wedding..... 🤣🤣

I don't think you will need entertainment - people will just enjoy the meal and chatting to each other. And the lovely thing about a smaller wedding is that everyone will get chance to speak to you - I've been to big weddings where I barely got to say 'congratulations' to the bride and groom because so many people wanted to speak to them.
