Church brides - what are you walking down the aisle to??

Mrs.K2b, 24 August, 2014 at 19:23 Posted on Planning 0 17

So there's still a while to go yet, but as pretty much everything is sorted we're having a bit of a search into the music for the church. We are paying for the organist to do the music for the hymns, so also want the entrance music to be played on the organ too.

I know I definitely don't want Wagners bridal chorus. Mendelssohn's wedding march is a possibility, but needing a bit more inspiration!

Came across Queen of Sheba; Mr k likes it, but its a bit to fast and up beat for me as an song to walk down the aisle to! Just came across Pachelbel - Cannon in D, that's quite nice

My mum and granddad are both organist/choirmasters, so she chose all our music and we're using 2 of my granddad's compositions for the prelude. We are having the Coronation March by Walton for the bridal entrance, and Mulet's Carillon-sortie for the procession out.

    I'm having

    Widor Toccata from Symphony No.5

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJ-gzmGu1J4

I think it might scare some people! But I wanted something dramatic! My bridesmaids are walking at the tinkly - lighter bit, then there are these fan fare sort of sounds, then I'm walking!

We're walking out to this! I can't wait! I'm walking down the aisle to Queen of Sheba. It doesn't have to be as fast as some of the ones you hear, speak to your organist!

I would like 'I dreamed a dream' from les mis. Although the words aren't hugely appropriate (!) when played on the organ I think it sounds beautiful. Just hoping our organist will be happy to learn it. I also heard Adele someone like you at my friends wedding which also sounded lovely.x
