Civil ceremony and blessing

Is anyone else having a civil ceremony followed by a blessing? If yes, are you doing it all on the same day or separate days?
Partner wants to do ceremony in the week with the blessing and celebration on the weekend (like a normal wedding) but I'm not sure if its a bit of an anti climax as the civil ceremony is already done.

Our friends did it in the week as was way cheaper! Depends if you will have people at the ceremony, or if it is just a formality. It does work well in terms of taking stress out of the day and on the weekend you can concentrate on enjoying the day, the only thing when you celebrate your anniversary?!

I hadn't even thought about the anniversary! I'm rubbish at remembering them so probably would take much notice. 🙄

Did they have a blessing and party at the weekend?

Yes, they had a festival wedding in a field, 2 day weekend event so couldn't legally do it there so did it 3 days before and the uncle did the blessing part so it was like an actual wedding, used wording about commitment etc and still did vows. They use that day as their anniversary rather than the legal date

We are getting officially married on a Wednesday with just 2 witnesses and planning a blessing on the Saturday in my mums garden. We have a vicar in the family who will be doing our blessing so we consider this our wedding and will be our anniversary. On the plus side my other half can’t back out due to last minute nerves as we will already be legally married!
