Civil Ceremony - What 4 pieces of music are you having?

RubyCheeksandPeachyLips, 16 of July of 2010 at 11:10 Posted on Planning 0 21

As it says really,

What music are you having for your ceremony.

Is it right you need four pieces:

1. When guests are being seated?

2.When the bride enters?

3.Signing of the register?

4.Leaving as husband and wife?

x

3.

I don't think you *have* to have 4 different pieces...

I can't remember what else we used, but I walked in to Pachelbel's Canon.

You might be best off getting a 'wedding' CD, something like this:

    http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;1;-1;-1;-1&sku=24703

I'm pretty sure we were told we could only use original CD's, not copies, so that might be worth checking too.

It depends really if you want classical, or you'd rather go for more modern ballad-y type stuff...?

I'm definitely walking in to Pachelbel's Canon, as I love it. ?

I also love Clair de Lune by Debussy, so will have that for the signing of the register, and if we need a second song I'm considering Air on a G string by Bach.

My ideas for the exit so far are Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Handel, or Spring (from the Four Seasons) by Vivaldi - as these are both quite joyful pieces.

    Just to add....................

I went onto itunes and searched wedding music, and all these pieces (and about 50 odd more) came up, so you can have a listen to clips of them all and perhaps find pieces you had not even considered.

    xx

    I had:

Entry: Air from Water Music (Handel)

Register signing: Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini (Rachmaninov) and Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun (Debussy)

    Exit: Feeling Good (Nina Simone)

We didn't have anything while the guests were entering.

    Hey Ruby cheeks,

Our registrar sent us a rough ceremony layout and on the letter it says to have

have music for seating guests to stop any formal silences

a piece of music for the brides entrance

2 pieces of music for the signing of the register

and 1 piece of music to walk out to

    Hope this helps

Doh, i hasnt thought about guests arriving!!

up the aisle to sigur ros (suprise for H2B)

down the aisle to Frank Sinatra, Got the world on a string

signing the reg-have no idea!!!! H2B is in to alternative instrumental stuff (hence Sigur Ros) so might put him in charge of choosing that so long as he doesnt pick my "up the aisle" one!

we had a giggle thinking we could have Tim Minchin- Storm, but it mentions the F word too much!!

    1. When guests are being seated? - we're planning on making a CD of our favourite songs, James Morrison, Jason Mraz, Damien Rice, Michael Buble, The Beatles etc to play whilst the guests are being seated and again during dinner

2.When the bride enters? - OH would like me to walk down the aisle to the Jeff Buckley version of Hallelujah however we're not sure whether it will be allowed in a civil ceremony, if it won't then possibly Adele - Make You Feel My Love or U2 - One Love

3.Signing of the register? - The Beatles - In My Life (it reminds OH of his Dad who passed away when he was 12) The Style Council - You're The Best Thing and whichever song we don't use as entrance music

4.Leaving as husband and wife? - The Fratellis - Costello Music, we're both big rugby fans and it's used when someone scores so we want everyone to dance to it as we're walking out

I think Signed, Sealed, Delivered for signing the register is a fab idea!!! We both love Stevie x

We went a bit mad! We were married in Venice and our music was:

Entrance- Days Like These Instrumental - Matt Monro

Register - Life with You and On My way - The Proclaimers

    Exit - Self Preservation Society!

Mrsmillwe2b - were having a civil ceremony as well and the registrar mentioned hallelujah as a song we couldn't have because of the religious connotations - might be worth double checking ?

I'm thinking of having this too!

All the music will be played on piano. Think will go for classical before the ceremony then jazz type stuff during drinks & dinner.

Walking in - as mentioned above

Signing register - Elbow 'Day Like This', Coldplay 'Yellow' & The Verve 'Lucky Man'

Walking out - Nina Simone 'Feeling Good'

Rubycheeks, you have excellent taste - I LOVE Made Up Lovesong 43 (I can't find hash on my keyboard?!) and we'll definitely be having it at some point, either in the ceremony or for our first dance.

I think I'll enter to Spring from Four Seasons, and otherwise we're stuck. We'll have Richard Hawley (Serious and poss a few others) at some point, I'd also like Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah but again not sure about the registrar allowing it, and I think we're going to exit to Queen, Best Friend.

Ooh, and for seating of guests we're buying up various songs from the Vitamin String Quartet - classical versions of the Pixies, Killers and Guns n Roses amongst others ?

    1. The venue is providing music for when the guests arrive

    2. I'm walking into 'Wonderful World' by Eva Cassidy and Katie Melua

    3. We're having '1,2,3' by the plain white T's, 'Iris' by the Goo Goo Dolls and 'Better together' by Jack Johnson whilst signing the register

    4. Walking out as husband and wife to 'You're my best friend' Queen.

    Hiya,

We are just in the process of choosing our music. It's not going "great" as so far we have only picked one ? however the one song that I know we definately want is "Song Bird" by Eva Cassidy as we love it..

Still to decide on the others but were hoping to by the end of this week! I noticed a lot of people are choosing Classical pieces.
