Cleaning of Wedding Dress.. Before the Wedding.

ExpensiveGoldBridesmaid786, 2 May, 2021 at 20:41 Posted on Planning 0 2
Hi Guys,

I brought my wedding dress which was in the sale and apparently a sample dress, when I first brought my dress (September 2019), I didn't notice any marks on it I have been back for my alterations and marks have now appeared.

Apparently it's down to me to get my dress dry cleaned before the wedding,Has anyone ever had the same experience or know anyone who has? My personal opinion is to me the dress is "new" whether it was a sample dress or in the sale, even if it was second hand I would expect the person selling to have it cleaned or take off the cost of the clean?
TIA xx

That sounds really poor service, especially as the marks seem to have appeared since you originally tried it on. Most boutiques will steam clean/press a dress after alterations as standard, regardless of whether it was purchased new or on sale.

I think if it's been with them and new marks have appeared it should be down to them to clean it, samples dress or not. Generally when you buy a sample dress it'll say whether there are any marks before you buy, so that should be quite easy to prove hopefully.
