Clutch bag and corsages VS bouquets

Elixia, 19 of September of 2013 at 13:20 Posted on Planning 0 13

I thought I've had and i want to see what everyone here thinks too.

I'm having a bouquet, but have my bridesmaid I'm thinking corsages so they can have clutch bags! I'm thinking for practical reasons here. For when i need so to hold my bouquet and keep hold of my phone, tissues, lippy etc. it would be best if they had their hands free AND have somewhere to store that without fumbling with their own bouquet.

What do you think? a sound plan?

Thats what Im doing for my bridesmaids. It was actually a suggestion from them because they are older bridesmaids (my sisters 35 and 40) they thought they would feel more comfortable with a clutch instead.

To be honest I was quite happy with this suggestion as I was going to make them a clutch bag as a gift for them for the day anyway.

I'm making the below bag in nude dupion silk and just where the pleat is on the top band I am going to make a red fabric flower and it will have a crystal/pearl brooch in at the centre.

I was going to be making them bouquets with flowers made out of red and ivory ribbons with brooches anyway so this is just like a different spin on it

My sister (BM) is having a bouquet and my Mum is holding her clutch (with all my stuff in!) during the service and she will put it down at the reception venue for photos. I don't think it's a bad plan tho!

This is what I'm doing. My bm dresses have a floral pattern on them & trying to match a bouquet to them would be too much so they're having a simple cream rose/lace corsage & a nice clutch!

I've got my BMs clutch bags simply cos I saw them cheap and they're lovely. They will be having bouquets too thought so the bags will just have to be stashed away for the ceremony and photos!

Oooh that pattern sounds like a good idea!! i can sew!

glad I'm not the only one that like this idea! I personally am a scatterbrain so I KNOW i will lose my bouquet. and it started me thinking on would everyone else, plus where would you put them all when eating, socialising etc? the table will have centrepieces, cutlery and drinks. Also when i don't have a bag with my stuff in it on me i feel like i lost a limb. so i can imagine they might too.

plus this work into my bridesmaids gift of jewellry and making them a survival kit!

Elixia - the pattern is by michellepatterns.com

I made these as bridal/bridesmaids bags for my friends wedding last year and they were a hit. These patterns are SO well written and dead easy to follow (i've used several of her patterns before). Makes it seem almost easy to make them yet they look beautiful!

Hi Thank you for settling my mind I was originally having bouquets for the bridesmaids and as someone has already said both of mine are older so mom suggested clutch bags and wrist corsages. I thought that would be nice and a little bit different but was still a bit unsure.

After this post I think that is what I am going to go with. Think I just needed to settle my mind that it wasn, t a totally strange idea.

I'm putting my brooch bouquet on the wish tree table after the ceremony. I had a bowquet (which is absolutely beautiful) and a clutch bag for my legal ceremony and I was surprised how it didn't get in the way.

I'm thinking of this for my bridesmaids too - either wrist or handbag corsages to go with the clutches.

My BM will have a bouquet too and my Mum or whoever can hold clutch with things in during ceremony etc but i'm going to try organise things we'll need to be at venue in our little private room so that'll hopefully save anyone holding lots of things.

    Great idea though and practical!

Hi, I'm thinking of doing the same thing as you. I was quoted a lot for bridesmaids bouquets and the corsages and clutches would be cheaper as well as them being able to kepe the clutch bags afterwards. I also wasn't sure where they were supposed to put the bouquets during the meal. x

Yeah, I'm liking the practical side of this. its less 'fussy' just have to decide if I'll them or buy them.

outta curiosity, i've forgotten what the tradition of carrying flowers?
