Collecting a parcel from the post office - help!

ruby slipper, 12 December, 2008 at 18:32 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

The postman tried to deliver a parcel on Monday but I was at work. i got one of those red notes saying it was at the local collection depot. This morning I went to put it in my bag to collect the parcel on my way home from work and I can't find it. It's not a recorded /special delivery item, if I go to the depot with my drivers licence (which has my photo, name and address on it) and maybe a letter addressed to me do you think they'll give it to me? It'll be a nightmare if not as it's a load of presents from an american website - gah!

I am forever losing those cards. Just go in with ID etc and as long as it has your name on it, it should be fine

I use my driving license, no problem. i once used my work id which is in my maiden name and had no address, and this seemed to be okay too. ?

I've picked one up for somebody else using her ID and no card, so you shouldn't have a problem.

My parents local post office is a nightmare. I've had stuff addressed to me, c/o my dad, with his full name on the address. Even with the card and ID they wouldn't let him pick it up. Had he had one of my bank statements it would have been fine apparently...

They very rarely ask for ID. I lost the card once and just went in and explained and gave them my name and address and they gave it to me, without even asking for ID.

I was collecting in our local one on Monday (where there are signs everywhere saying "No card, no parcel. Sorry for any inconvenience") and the woman in front of me didn't have the card. He said if she knew the date the card was left and had photo ID and proof of address, she could have it.
