Commute A1 southbound to borehamwood

Hi me and hubby are going to be buyinig a house in hitchin

I just wondered if anyone was aware how long rougly the commute would take from hitchin to borehamwood. apparently traffic is heavy around stevenage. google maps suggest 30 mins in a clear run and 40-45 in traffic which isn't too bad considering. i hear the roads get better when it spilts to three lanes. any help wiould be great

I used to do that run the opposite way - Watford to Letchworth.

A colleague of mine does Stevenage to Watford and I won't lie, the traffic is bad. Especially around junctions 6/7 where they go down to 2 lanes. She leaves really early and gets home really late.

I'm just outside Stevenage and the traffic that way is horrendous. I used to do Stevenage to Welwyn garden which is only 9 miles but could take about 45 mins in rush hour. There's a possibility I may end up having to work over that way (well Radlett, St. Albans, Watford way) but putting it off as long as possible to avoid the travelling....
