Company PAYE reference numbers - Does anyone know about these?

fiorelli, 15 May, 2008 at 07:45 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 1

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me.

I called Tax Credits to renew my claim a few days ago, only to find out that somehow they don't have any of the information on their files that I have given them over the last three years (despite me having all the letters/renewal forms that get sent to you when you give them new information). They have told me that I need to give them the PAYE reference number for my Husband's previous job's company (if that makes sense). However, the company was sold out to a competitor in 2007 - a year after he left.

My question really is, will the new company still have the same PAYE number? Will they be able to give it to me? Or will they only give it to my husband as he used to work there? (I'll be phoning the depot he used to work at when they open at 9.00am, but would like to be a bit forewarned if you like)

Thanks.

It's unlikely that it will be the same now, but it will be on the P60 and P45 he received from them

Thanks for replying Ice Queen. We have lost his P45/P60 so couldn't get it from them (we got his new company's from their P60).

After 4 phonecalls, the last person I spoke to said 'I can tell you that' then told me straight away with no hesitation. I think she has probably had the same question many times lately!

Now I have the unenviable task of trying to get hold of Tax Credits - Again - to tell them.

    Why is nothing ever simple?

    Thanks again.
