Confused about register signing

SunnyOrangeBridesmaid83314, 24 June, 2022 at 11:54 Posted on Planning 0 5
Hello!

I’m confused about who “signs the register” at the wedding and hoped to get a clear answer. Do parents sign as well as witnesses? Or is it just witnesses signing and then parents names recorded?
Thank you and sorry for what is probs an obvious q!

It's just the two of you and the witnesses. But there is not actually a "register" anymore. Its just a boring piece of A4 paper.

Some authorities are printing out nice scrolls for you and the Church has independently produced a book that is used to record the marriage like the register but not all Churches have them.

Thank you! I was getting a bit confused 🫣
We’ll just haul the folks up for a quick pic by the fake document so they don’t feel left out!

Its entirely up to you but I cant remember anyone having pics of themselves with the reg and then with the 2 witnesses and then Mums and Dads. You are going to be there ages - and the registrars may well start to get "jittery" as they could have another wedding to get to.

My advice would be to skip any with the parents there and save them if for outside

We did the fake sign picture and then our registrar invited others to take pics and we quickly had our witnesses come up for a pro pic but as Bill says, the registrars don't allow too much tine for photos and get a bit jittery as need to stick to timings as they sometimes have another booking after so want to get in and out!

It’s just you, your partner, the two witnesses and the registrar who signs it.
Registrars often have back to back wedding ceremonies so don’t allow much time after the ceremony is over for signing and photos so may have to have a quick photo signing and take other photos outside! But definitely ask about this at your registry office.
