Hi guys!
We've had our venue booked for a while now. They are fantastic, everything appears to be going well and the wedding planner is always extremely quick to respond to any queries I have. However, she is currently out of the office and cannot answer my query, so I'm looking for a few opinions!
Our drinks package for 60 people is roughly £1200 for a welcome drink, one glass of wine with dinner and a toasting drink. I asked if it would be possible to provide our own alcohol for the day and was told we could do this BUT a minimum of three drinks would need to be provided for all day guests and corkage would be £12.50 per bottle of wine and £15 per bottle of sparkling wine.
Absolutely fine with me as cost wise, we can provide a welcome drink, three glasses with dinner and a toasting drink for roughly the same price as their package, including corkage. However, I've just read their contract and it states "ADDITIONAL CONTRACT INFORMATION: A minimum of a three course meal and £18.95 drinks package per person will be purchased for all day guests".
In most cases, does the fact you're providing your own drinks and paying corkage override their requirement for a package in their contract? I have discussed providing our own alcohol with the manager and she stated the only stipulation is that a minimum of three drinks per person must be provided - I'm assuming as this makes the costs up for them with corkage. To quote her when I asked about providing our own alcohol:
"You can of course bring your own alcohol to the Hall however this can only be Wine and Sparkling Wine. The corkage charge for this is:£12.50 per 75cl bottle of Wine£15.00 per 75cl bottle of Sparkling Wine or ChampagneIf you do decide to bring your own alcohol, you will still need to provide enough for three drinks per person for all day guests"
I am now panicking as we have planned what wine we will be having, plus the amounts. To go with their original package would be a bit of a disappointment! I can't even get an answer directly from her until tomorrow morning and would rather not spend the rest of the evening panicking!
Apologies for the novel!
Katie
