Corkage

Tom, 17 July, 2022 at 22:47 Posted on Planning 0 2
As someone who doesn't quite understand it, is corkage £x per bottle literally meant to be on any bottles you bring in to a venue or just if you decide to buy your own wine?

Like if it's £9 a bottle is that also the same as if we just bought a massive bottle of vodka or would a venue likely charge more/just say no?

The fee is normally per bottle regardless of size that you bring to the venue. If you have a venue then I would ask them to confirm their fee structure, they may allow a certain amount of bottles for one fee, they all differ so is net to ask

Corkage is just for when you supply your own alcohol. It's a way of "buying out" a venue if you want to bring our own choice of alcohol rather than use their supplier.

You'll pay a fixed fee per bottle you bring in, but can bring in things of superior quality. So if corkage is 9 pounds, you can bring 25 pound bottles for your guests. Or 4 pound bottles. The price will be the same for any form of alcohol afaik.

Some venues instead have a bulk corkage fee rather than a per bottle fee.
