Covid dropouts 😔

Brightcolourwedding2022, 21 June, 2022 at 10:54 Posted on Planning 0 9
I don’t know about anybody else, but I’m finding the stress of last-minute Covid dropouts extremely stressful. I’m getting married on Saturday and so far we have two dropouts. Manoeuvring table places is difficult with long tables, and I’m just so disappointed that they won’t be able to make it anymore 🙁 Anybody else feeling the same?

Not yet but I have 32 days to go and this has been worrying me a bit. No drop outs yet but I know it could happen. For table plans they will just have to stay like that as we will submit the plan this week and assume we will have to pay for them at this late stage anyway 😬

I also have long tables, which will make any dropouts difficult- the seating plan will ahve to stay the same, so I hope people might realise to move up otherwise there'll be an empty space in the middle :/

I feel you! We’re also getting married on Saturday and the covid thing is giving me serious anxiety. My FH is trying to reassure me that it will all be fine even if a few people do have to drop out but I’m struggling to see it rationally and terrified my dad or another key person won’t make it.

If we have any drop outs we’ll probably just have to take those place settings off the tables and people can move up but it feels like a massive extra stress we could all do without.
In happier news - 4 days to go! Hope you have the most amazing day xx

For our long tables, on a few where there are dropouts, we have asked for those to sit more central so it doesn’t look like there are gaps. It’s such a last minute thing, and two of my guests are hoping for negative results by Saturday. So it could even be an on the day decision.

I think every 2022 bride has to prepare for the fact that there will be dropouts, even up to the day itself. Such a shame.

I’m so worried about key people getting unwell, or even myself and my future husband. It’s just all so stressful. I just want to get to the day 😮‍💨

Our wedding is abroad too, so probably a higher risk covid-wise. Trying not to think about it too much, nothing we can do.Smiley smile

Hey, I think this is a new thing to worry about with guests isn't it - covid! Luckily we only had 3 dropouts but we had round tables. I had to do some last minute manoeuvring, even though my table plan was finalised. I also had to tell my wedding planner at the hotel the day before the wedding cos it was that last minute. Luckily it all went to plan.

I would set aside time the day before, just to go through any seating plan arrangements in case of changes and let your wedding planner know (or family/bridal/groomsmen, if no wedding plan). Whoever is setting up your long tables should leave off those guests who cannot attend and try and put place cards more central, so guests move up? Or if there is a only a small number of gaps, it may not be as noticeable?

As others have said, this is something out of your control and emergencies can happen. Everyone will be having too much of a good time to notice anyway I think :-)

We had three drop out. One a couple of days beforehand and two on the day. As well as that missed the ceremony because of traffic.

Unless they are key people you will be swept up in the moment and won't realise
