Covid panicking dec 2021 wedding

CBE, 20 October, 2021 at 13:44 Posted on Planning 1 13

Hey everyone

I just wondered if anyone else was in a similar situation with not being able to stop stressing about the wedding due to another lockdown or a restriction on numbers etc etc

I cant seem to stop checking the news and worrying constantly about it.

just looking for any support really!

I'm getting married on Monday and I'm currently paranoid about catching it in the next few days!!! As a teacher, I can't work from home or isolate in the 10 days beforehand and last weekend, my headteacher's family have caught it!

My biggest stress is that the wedding can't go ahead. I have had a couple of people say that they can't come because of Covid etc, and while I'm disappointed, I will be absolutely devastated if we can't get married at all. This is what's keeping me going this week.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and any others who face the ongoing uncertainty. Keep hoping, it's so important to have hope!

I feel the same - really getting worried the closer my date gets! I have 3 weeks to go and feel like wrapping my nearest and dearest up in bubble wrap so i can make sure they can attend!

That is a reasonable worry considering we only just came out of lockdown pretty much ended the beginning of this year but I'm sure theres nothing to worry about covid numbers have gone down a good amount

We got married on 28th October having booked in lockdown (feb) and I was worried too. We had the ceremony for 6 people so that wasn’t such a big worry as small weddings were opened first but we didn’t have any idea if we would get our reception or not. I’ve just seen sky news a comment from sage saying there’s unlike my to be a Christmas lockdown so hopefully this will ease your worry abit. https://news.sky.com/story/covid-19-uk-unlikely-to-see-catastrophic-winter-wave-that-requires-christmas-lockdown-sage-adviser-12467624

I am getting worried now too, we are getting married on Jan 8th and if they do another big xmass and new year lockdown that would not be good! I have also heard talk of them bringing back mandatory masks and no dancing Smiley surprise

I'm sure it will be fine but its hard not to worry when you have spent so long leading up to one big day.

Surely they won’t bring back no dancing while the clubs are still open?

We have had nightmare... due to get married in Feb in Goa, India. We decided to change it last weekend to the UK on the same date but now I am worried about doing it in Feb due to this current situation in the UK. My worry is that if we cant do it in Feb, we wont be able to do it at all as most venues are fully booked until 2023!

We're due to get married in March 2022. After last night's announcement I'm a bit concerned. I'm also aware we really can't make a decision yet and that it's a case of wait and see.

We are getting married on NYE and we are just exhausted from the worry of it not going ahead, also if it can go ahead, we feel guilty as its not exactly safe to do it with elderley family members attending.

I have a feeling we'll end up having to drastically cut down on numbers to say 15 or 30 and not have a reception party.

Perhaps we'll host a large cheese and wine gathering instead of a wedding reception!
