Crepe wedding dress

MrsM2B, 6 March, 2023 at 21:26 Posted on Wedding Attire 0 5
Hi,

I chose a crepe wedding dress. The sample wasn't my size but I loved the dress and thought it would look fine in my size. I did try others on but not many, I just loved that it was simple and elegant and that was mainly down to the crepe material.

But when I tried my dress on it just wasn’t flattering. It still doesn’t fit, the sample dress was too small but mine is too big. I knew it would need alterations as I’d lost some weight and I’m different sizes on my top and bottom half. I’m telling myself after alterations and hopefully some more weight loss it will look fine. But I’m so worried it won’t. I’ve been reading up on it and people say crepe is not forgiving (although I have seen articles saying the opposite and that it’s flattering). I can’t really wear shape wear under it as it has a low back. I’m a size 12 to 14 and trying to lose some more weight before our wedding day. But I’m feeling like I should have done more research before ordering my dress. What if I don’t feel comfortable in it once it’s been altered with only a few weeks to go before our wedding day?

Has anyone else got / had a crepe wedding dress and how did they feel in it? Or any pictures in your crepe dress? Does anyone have any advice that I could suggest to the company who will do my alterations?

Thanks. x

I don't have a crepe dress but I was also so nervous about this. When my dress came in it was too big and I was initially a little bit deflated, BUT then the consultant pulled it in where the seamstress would be taking it in and it looked amazing!!! Everything looks a little unflattering when it doesn't fit you right. Alterations will work wonders, I'm sure Smiley smile

I had a crepe wedding dress too—initially stressed about fit, but a good seamstress fixed it! Ask them to add subtle boning in the bodice for shape (works with low backs) and tailor the waist to hug your curves. Crepe’s sleekness is flattering once fitted; don’t fixate on size labels. Post-alterations, it’ll feel like it’s made for you—trust the process!
