Cufflinks, Are you buying them for all your groomsmen?

BrogstarBride, 13 May, 2013 at 17:21 Posted on Planning 0 6

At the start of planning my wedding I had all these bright ideas about personalised socks for the men (which i have got ages ago) and cufflinks but now im at the point where im thinking seriously is anyone going to notice that all the men have cufflinks with Groom, Best man etc on? And can i really be arsed/ or justify spending extra money on something like this?

What are you guys doing? Smiley smile

Well, if you're hiring shirts which need cufflinks, you need something to hold them together, but I don't think you need personalised ones - most shops will supply either plain cufflinks or those little silk knot things if you ask. I'm not a big fan of the "groom"/"best man"/"father of the bride" cufflinks - they are a bit "novelty item" to me, and can of course only be worn on one day! If I were going to buy cufflinks as gifts, I'd buy some nice stylish versatile ones and perhaps just engrave them with the date on the back.

H and his best man wore their college crest ones, our dads just wore plain metallic ones.

We bought cufflinks for all the boys, but not really wedding-y ones.

Boy and best man had funky gothic skull things (this was best man's gift on day).

The Dads had plain Hugo Boss studs. My brother had silver Playstation controllers and BIL had silver iPhones. We gave the Dads and brothers theirs the Christmas before, as extra gifts, obviously with the wedding in mind. My Dad has two pairs of his, as he forgot them for the wedding - fortunately, the only menswear shop near our venue happened to have the same pair!

I'm not planning to as most of my groomsmen will own nice cufflinks, but if any of them don't have any already I might get them a nice pair as their gift. My nephew is one of the only one's I can think of who won't have any but his 2 brothers are getting married before me so he might get some before our wedding.

You can get them on ebay quite cheaply. i am planning on getting those and the socks for all the groomsmen it's a little something for them to keep. your photographer will take some images of them also. as a thank you during the wedding breakfast we will give them all a personalised glass.

We got the 'groom' 'best man' etc socks but that was more of a long standing joke. Not sure if any of them wore them or not but they were only cheapy off ebay. OH chose the cufflinks and wanted them all to have the same. He found some he liked in his team colours, we just got a job lot in the Debenhams sale.

I am after getting cufflinks but again, like Footlong, not wedding ones, my brother who is a Special Police Officer I have seen a lovely pair of Handcuff ones and my other brother who is a IT guy gonna find something along those lines.

Perhaps for my pops and his dad might just get the standard FOB / FOG ones.
