Custom wedding ring arrived and it's all wrong...

Annaangeluk2016, 6 June, 2016 at 21:39 Posted on Planning 0 6

I ordered a custom fitted wedding ring from a company in America as my beautiful engagement ring is a bit of an awkward shape! It's very flat to my finger so all standard wedding bands weren't fitting, I have bought and returned 6 different wedding bands so far so thought a custom one would be perfect! The company have been amazing and they sent me a kit to make a mold of my ring which I returned and they made up examples. I ordered a 2 ring diamond set white gold ring guard that according to the pictures hugs my ring perfectly! It arrived today and they barely go anywhere near it! So, so disappointed ☹️ Contacted the company straight away and they've agreed to refund full cost once I return it so I'm not concerned about the money but I was so looking forward to getting it.

We just dont seem to be having any luck with anything! Our first venue fell through, our invites arrived and were alk different colours (they're now referred to as 50 shades of brown!) and now this! I know none of it is major but it's just so upsetting.

How disappointing for you! My engagement ring is cluster ring and no wedding rings fitted against it either. I've ended up having mine made by a local jeweller and he has done an amazing job! Have you tried any local, independent jewellers? Also, a friend of mine had hers made by a company called smooch. Perhaps have a look at them!

hope you get it sorted! Xx

You aren't living in the North West are you?

I got my girlfriend's engagement ring custom made from a company called Slack and Andrews in Manchester and they sound like the kind of company you need right now (as long as location worked)

They would mock up your new ring on the computer and then make a wax model of your ring. So the chances of your wedding and fitting against your engagement ring would be dramatically increased above a company based in US as you could physically show them it.

i am sure there are other jewellery manufacturers out there who do a similar thing if Manchester is it near you.

I agree with the posters above, we had my wedding ring made in the jewelry quarter in Birmingham - I only wanted a very simple, thin white gold band but it had to fit around my 1920s engagement ring.

I left my engagement ring with them for a week and they made up a wax ring which I could try on and ask for any adjustments etc... the end result is just what I wanted, and the whole thing cost less than my husbands simple gold wedding band.

(sorry the photo is massive.... I don't know how to re size it!)

Have you looked into making your own? We're going to spend the day on Saturday making our own rings with a jeweller in Norfolk - it's not costing too much - £250 plus the cost of the gold (weighed after you've made your rings). You can pretty much make what you want including fitting them to your engagement ring. We're going because my OH found a picture of a ring he liked but can't find it for sale anywhere so he's making it instead.

If you're anywhere near Norfolk let me know and I'll post the link to their website. If you're not have a Google and you'll probably find a similar set up near to you!

Thank you for everyone's replies! So glad to see that we still have plenty of options so I'm going to do a bit more research! I know it'll all get sorted it's just been so frustrating!

    Thanks again,

My engagement ring and wedding ring are being made by a guy called David. He owns a jewellery shop called Tiago which is in Sheffield. He won the ido wedding awards both this year and last year for bespoke rings, and he's searchable on Faceboo. If it's not too far away he's a cracking guy.
