We want to really keep the party going - so are having both a band and a DJ. We are also only having an evening reception and the legal ceremony will be very basic and family only the day before so we were planning on a symbolic ceremony in front of everyone.
We’re thinking to arrive together, do our symbolic ceremony, cut the cake and do the first dance, then jump into the band’s first set (there are some quieter spaces and mingling room). Then break for dinner for 45-70 mins, second set, and switch to a DJ for the rest of the night. No speeches.
I want to keep everything ‘ceremony related’ together so that people can get to the eating, the party, the mingling and the dancing! But I have a concern about the flow of going from dancing into dinner (it will be a standing reception with plenty of cocktail seating available). Do you have any thoughts on this? I know it’s not super traditional but I’ve heard what dampens the mood is having to wait around so I’m trying to minimise on that!
