a few years ago I lost 2 stone as i was going to be bridesmaid at my brothers wedding, i know how hard it is not only too lose the weight but then to keep it off so i have so much admiration for these ladies!

Has anyone read any of her books? I spotted one in Asda a few weeks ago.

I did Lighter Life and it was hellish. Had to drink 6 litres of water a day (peed like a racehorse) and wee on a stick to prove we weren't eating. Was like a fat boot camp. The LL leader I saw was evil. I told one of the girls in my group I ate some broccoli and she dobbed me in. Then got a phone call from the leader telling me off. Caah.

ETA: We also had to watch motivational DVDs. They had an addiction specialist on there who told us being fat was the same as being a drug addict.

My mate did Lighter Life and lost about 4 stone but piled it back on afterwards.

A friend of mine did it and managed to keep most of it off. There's no way I could cope with something that restrictive.

I think Pauline looks great! I really hope she can keep the weight off. Lighter Life sounds dead evil! Thats not the way to lose weight. Slimming world is better.

I tried Lighter Life a long time ago, it was vile, the shakes made me ? and had no idea how bad for you it was. Also hated the American mumbo jumbo councelling approach as part of it e.g. if you could describe yourself as a vehicle what would you be? errr a HGV? don't think that is what they were looking for.

I went to a nutritionist a few weeks ago and Lighter Life came up in conversation and she was telling me how dangerous it was as the body is not designed to cope with that amount of water and a large number of her patients at the local hospital are people with serious kidney and liver conditions developed as a direct result of Lighter Life. Also as you say, even if people lose a lot of weight , it is a temporary fix and does not re educuate eating habits which is the key to maintaining weight loss.
