Hey sweetie, not sure I understand? In my experience you apply for your decree nisi and once that is granted you have to wait for six weeks and one day until the decree absolute is automatically granted and you are officially divorced?

My solicitor say about two weeks.

SLD - you can apply for the absolute 6 weeks after the nisi is issued - then it takes them a couple of weeks to do it.

    Hey you, hows tricks?

Mine must have been different for some reason as the Absolute wasn't automatic? Monday was six weeks and one day since i got my Decree Nici through, so on Tuesday I took my Nici with an application for decree to be made absolute and a cheque for £40 to the court... ??

Oh really? I am now totally confused. I'm trying to remember what paperwork I had. I definitely know that it was automatic if uncontested and I had paperwork through afterwards... is it just that you are applying for the piece of paper saying absolute on it?

[paranoid fear that I am not actually divorced but sure I am being silly moment]

SLD did you divorce him or the other way around? If he applied for the absolute you would have recieved it automatically, I think?

Yes, it is just the final certificate, you have to pay £40 for it x

    Hiya

The day I could apply for my decree absolute fell on boxing day last year, so I posted my application and cheque on 27 Dec and by 29 Dec I had the absolute drop in my doormat ie the court had received my application on 28 Dec, processed it and posted the absolute to me that very day!!!! That is service for you!! Good luck.

SLD - yes you need to get the absolute or you're not actually divorced.
