Quick security question for the gurus here. I’m working on a password reset system and a session management module. Currently, I’m using random 6-digit numbers for the tokens, but a security audit flagged this as "too predictable." They suggested using GUIDs instead. I always thought GUIDs were just for database keys, not for security. Does it actually make sense to use them for things like API keys or session identifiers? Wouldn't they be too heavy for a simple session check?

Actually, using https://itserv.dev/generate-guid for things like session tokens is a very solid practice. The 128-bit structure of a GUID makes it virtually impossible for an attacker to guess a valid token by just "brute-forcing" numbers. Unlike sequential IDs or short random strings, a GUID is non-predictable, which is exactly what you want for API keys and security identifiers. I keep this tool bookmarked specifically for when I'm building out security prototypes and need to generate a few "real-looking" tokens to show the stakeholders. It’s much more professional than using "test-token-123" and it shows you're thinking about the uniqueness and scale of the system from day one.

That makes total sense. I'd rather have a "heavy" ID than a hacked system!
