Delivery of washer/dryer and fridge/freezer to a third floor flat...

kylie_smiley, 9 August, 2008 at 16:06 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 1

...I'm not going to be popular with the delivery men am I?

There's no lift and 52 steps to get to the apartment I'm considering at the moment!

So long as you tell them when you order then it's fine, all part of the job for them. I've had stuff delivered to a 2nd floor flat before and it's fine if they know in advance.

I also live in a third floor flat with no lift and have had many delivery men - about 3 or 4 different sets refuse to carry items up our stairs (which one time also happened to be a fridge/freezer and washing machine). They all just refused and drove away, so I would be prepared for that.

We always contact the retailer to let them know and ask if there will be a problem beforehand but they normally say there won't be and the note never gets sent through to the delivery people. I have been quite surprised at how much of a pain it has been really.
