Dental scale and polish - does anyone else find it really sore?!

Highlandgirl72, 28 May, 2008 at 10:03 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

I went to the dentish yesterday for a check-up. I didn't need any fillings but had to have a scale and polish - I've had these loads of times and they've always hurt but yesterday was agony! It wasn't a new dentist - maybe she was having a bad day!

Does anyone else find them really sore?!

Uncomfortable whilst it's being done, but never agony, and any discomfort is usually over once it's done.

I've just been for one, and it wasn't too sore while it was being done.

Having said that, my gums are really sore now!

Yes a little bit tender afterwards but not really painful , sounds like she might have been a bit heavy handed.

I had one last week and it was so painful I actually had a tear roll down my cheek. I almost asked her to stop but I would've felt slightly pathetic if I had. It felt like she was actually scraping away at my flesh. It's never happened before but I don't think I'll be hurrying back for another.

I must be a wimp - it's all I can do not to jump through the ceiling when I'm having a scale done.
