Destination wedding!

Amy, 8 August, 2021 at 10:44 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 4
We're getting married abroad and wanting to give people sufficient enough time to prepare and save to be able to attend.

We are looking at 2025 - Should we start giving people the heads up now and official save the dates to go out at a later date?

There’s no harm in letting people know so they can start to save money. They obviously can’t book anything as the flight schedules wouldn’t be released for that year yet. But it’s always better to have more notice than none.

We’re hopefully getting married in October 2024 (just got to pay the deposit but date it ours) we are having a small wedding with just family and maybe 2 friends and their families. Most of them know we are getting married abroad but we will be sending save the dates ASAP so they have plenty of time to look at rough costs x

I'd tell anyone that you'd be really gutted if they couldn't attend - so anyone likely to be in the wedding basically. It'll give them a heads up on savings/knowing they'll need some holiday days, all of which will affect any personal holiday plans they might be thinking of, and you can also get a sense check to make sure the people you'd really want there are likely to be up for it before you book too much. That being said, if you've booked and have a date, I'd be telling these crucial people to save the date now just in case.
