Destination Wedding Invitations - HELP!!

Future Mrs C, 8 June, 2011 at 09:42 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 2

Hi,

I'm just looking for some advice for invitations....we've been looking at so many destinations and now it's added a new panic...how do you go about sending out the invitations??

We don't want to leave anyone out, and what everyone to have the choice of going but we will also be having a big evening reception when we come home.

Looking for ideas of how others have planned their invitations - did you send both an invite to the wedding and the evening reception together? And how did you keep track of numbers (for wedding meals etc).

So many questions!!

Any help would be really appreciated Smiley smile

    Hi

I didn't have a destination wedding but I can give you some info from what couples have done in the past.

    Two options:

    a. when you are confident who is coming or you have previously discussed it with them, then you can send the equivilalent of day invitations to those coming away and then evening invites for the party in the UK

    b. invitations that are primarily an invitation to the wedding but that encompass a second invite to the party for those that can't attend. A pocketfold invitation works well for this as you can include information regarding the stay away and an invitation to the party as well as the main invitation.

    Something like this...

    Hope that helps

Wedding invitations are generally the first insight into your special day for most of your guests. They set the scene, giving the guests an idea about your theme, colors for the day and what to expect. It’s not just the words in the invitation that matter but also the presentation- so think carefully about the style you choose.

    Hi FMC,

We are getting married in Zante on 5th Sept. 2012. We decided that we wanted a small, intimate wedding in Zante, with close family and friends. Then a big party when we return for extended family and work friends etc.

We have sent out Save the Date Cards (posted theses in May) to the guests who we are inviting out to Zante with us. We will then send invitations and informations packs to the same guests around Christmas time this year.

For the guest who are invited to the party/reception at home, we will send them their invitations around July 2012, explaining that we are getting married abroad and just want immediate family and friends there.

In regards to keeping track of the numbers, we pretty much know who will and won't come to Zante for the ceremony, so we just go off that! Most of our family, when they received their Save the Date card, told us wether or not they would be attending.

    Hope that makes sense.! ?
