Did anyone make their own table plan and name places

Random Name, 5 July, 2011 at 21:17 Posted on Planning 0 31

Have been looking at our budget spread sheet and seeing where we can cut down. I like working on projects and thought I could maybe do our table plan, name places and table names (closer to the time) I dont want them to look too home made though. I have ample time so have sufficent time to try and get it done properly. Would be nice to add that personal touch too

Anyone care to share (flash) their table plans etc that they made themselves?

I'm considering buying a kit from Hobbycraft and adding embelishments, but I'll have to see what my budget is like a bit nearer the time!

How dare it! I think I recall yours and it was fab.I recall a golden budda? Did it take a lot of time?

I need to find the instruction manual for the printer and see if it can cope with thick paper

You recall correctly!!! Not really, the place names I get really simple and used offcuts of sparkly card which I had left over from the invites, the table names were A5 sized postcards double sided card, the table plan was just pictures cut out and stuck on and I made the luggage tags, the menus were A6 cards printed like passports...

Thanks for the info. As I have ample time and not much to do at the moment I may start playing around and see how creative I can be.

We did! table plan cost nothing as i used one of my mum's mirrors, found the frame images online and printed them and names off at work (shhh!) I may have had to buy the prit stick!

kinda followed the theme with names on tables being in frames. Spent a few months collecting frames, most of which are now scattered around the flat with wedding pics in!

Mr Drifter did ours, we were a bit last minuet, so didn't have time to get stiff card for backing the table plan, but apart from that we were pretty happy with them. I suggest doing something that allows you to make changes to the table plan untill the last min in case of late cencellations etc...

I'd say most of my couples print their own Table Plans, there are plenty of sites that offer downloadable templates!

    http://wedding-stationery-downloads.blogspot.com/2009/10/free-seating-plan-templates.html

    http://www.eventtoolkit.com/weddings/reception/wedding-seating-plan-template.aspx

    Hope this helps!

    We'll be doing our own,

For our table plan we've bought a multi appiture brown leather photo frame (its about 1 metre square in total) from home base in their xmas sale and my dad's project for wedding week is to print the names on paper we got for our invite inserts

Our table names will be in brown leather frames from ikea

Our place cards will be the ones you can print that you can get from Amazon or WHSmiths.

Yes I am making ours. Pretty simple for the name cards, i used a label template and printed on nice card and cut to shape and then threaded ribbon to tie onto our favours. Table plan is pretty easy too - i will flash once ive finished this evening and have the camera to hand.

    Thanks for these everyone

JonCraven- Thanks for the links they look really useful! Have emailed to myself

I wake up at stupid oclock on Saturdays (normally 5am) this is my creative hour so will have a play about then.

Have seen some lovely ones on line but will give it an attempt myself first as table plans and name plates are lower down on our budget planner.

Out of intrest has anyone been to a wedding without a table plan? I am thinking about having peoples names and tables printed in the order of service (if the priest is ok with this) as it will mean less people crowding around one board

We are making our table plan. I got the idea from another hitcher a while back. We have bought nice affordable picture frames and we will print our guest names ourselves and insert them and display the frames on a decorated table.

Will you be putting the printed names onto a normal bit of paper/card or using one of the templates with cut out windows?

We are having about 16 tables (including the top table) the most I have seen with the mounted ones are 11.

I am doing mine. I bought plain name cards and am in the process of embellishing them... I have sewn a button on each one and will use a type-writer like stamp for people's names... may sound dd, but fits my theme!

Basically you buy very cheap plain name cards and decorate them to go with your theme.

This photo frame has 16 apertures, you could add the tables to this? And reduced from £50 to £15!!!

As long as you have plenty of time I'd def recommend making things yourself, I did and I really did love it when I saw everything come together on the day, it was a nice sense of achivement, everything was very personalised and not to metion i saved loadsa money.

Among other things I made the seating plan, placecards, napkin holders (sand dollar on ribbon), table names, order of service, invitations, flowers for tables at reception (except top table), pew ends and paper pom poms to decorate church yard.

But it all takes time... in my case a lot of time haha.

All looks lovely Nicki! Are those real flowers for the centrepieces? did you buy them on the morning?

I plan on making the name places, table plan, order of service and centrepeices. Have the vases but was debating foam roses for the centrepieces

Yep they r real flowers, i got them from a florist wholesalers (to keep down costs) on the thursday, arranged them on the friday morning, and kept them cool until the weddin on saturday. they were fine and everybody commented on how nice they were. i did 9 arrangements with peonies, fresias, snapdragons and some filler stuff for under £90 and got the vases from dunelm mill for £2 each... would advise not to bother with the gel beads tho... i recon they stole all the water from flowers, had to constantly be topped up and didnt last as long as normal flowers in water do.

    i hope this helps

    xxx

I made all of mine too, and here are the pictures from our wedding 8 weeks ago.

And I made two different types of name settings. One on top of my favour boxes and one for the chair backs with people options of menu choices.

    xx

Thank you for your response ladies. Really appreciated.

Could I ask what you typed the names up in? Did you do it in word, publisher etc? I'm not sure how big to do the table plan's per table (if that make sense?)
