Different Tastes in Venue!

Happyyellowhair476, 8 January, 2021 at 15:47 Posted on Planning 0 3
Hello!

My fiancé and I are hoping to get married in Summer 2022 and I’m having a minor panic about venues (and not just because we can’t get out to see any of them...)!
I always pictured an outdoor, fairy, festival vibe for my wedding. I want lots of greenery and long dining tables with everyone eating family style.
My fiancé on the other hand likes the idea of a stately home wedding, or even a castle if possible!
I’m trying my best to warm to the idea of a stately home wedding, but part of me feels it’s all a bit too stuffy for me when all I want is a big outdoor party with the people I love.
What do I do? How do we get past this? I’m hoping someone can think of the perfect middle ground!
Thank you in advance xx

Some stately homes have the option the ceremony in the gardens and the reception in a marquee outside. They have some beautiful grounds. Just because it's a stately home doesn't mean it has to be inside.

    Some compromise ideas:
A stately home with a lovely wild garden and the different elements of the day split between them
A barn wedding - an indoor space that you can style with a more formal feel but has rustic elementsA big marquee with more formal “stately” decor/set up A stately home but with lots of festivally-floral decor and long tables
I am very happy in that my fiancé is pretty much leaving all decor and styling decisions to me.

Thank you both! I love the idea of a stately home with a wild garden. It sounds like the perfect compromise. And I suppose I could just fill the rooms in the stately home with flowers!
