Different Venues Day & Night

I’m conflicted on planning in terms of; do I get a package and hold the wedding and reception at the same venue to allow guests to stay the day and night? It’s convenient for everyone and probably cheaper… or…. do I have the intimate wedding at an amazing venue with family and close friends present, then have the evening reception somewhere closer to home to allow for more friends and guests to attend, but then expecting those at the wedding to travel to an alternative venue and likely increasing cost? Would I be wrong for having that expectation? Should I be expected to provide the transport for the guests? I don’t know what to do! Thoughts?

    I have shot weddings exactly like this with an intimate wedding at an amazing venue with family and close friends and then all sat at one big table for food and then off to a second venue closer to home for the evening party.

    They did provide a bus for the wedding guest to take them to the second reception. But others drove to the wedding and then drove back home and got a taxi from home to the closer evening venue.

    It didn't actually feel disjointed or anything and seemed to all flo ok.

    Costs wise for the guests its probably cheaper to have the evening closer to home so they can get a taxi and not have to stay over.

    We had to 2 venues. Our ceremony was at a castle we love to go to, an hour from home. We had 50 day guests who att need ceremony and then we went back to a hotel for the wedding breakfast amd then had a further 50 people come in the evening. This is your day so you do what you feel is best, we knew people would travel so went for our dream ceremony venue. The only think to take in to account is travel time and food times..our ceremony was at 12, them had everyone leave at 2 to travel back, drinks at 3.30 and meal at 4.45. we provided snacks and cocktails I'm a can at the ceremony space to keep people going before the main meal as was a long day!
