Dilemma on matron of honour

Wendy, 11 of May of 2021 at 17:27 Posted on Planning 1 30
My matron of honour is demanding me to change my colour scheme she doesn't like it (as she is an older M of H) or she won't be my Mof H, I have decided I love the colour this has upset me any thoughts from fellow brides

Dump her as MOH- weddings are stressful enough without adding a MOH who doesn’t know her place in the hierarchy of wedding decision making.

Yep, get another MoH! That’s incredibly unsupportive and you need someone who is there’s for you. It’s one thing to question your decisions calmly and carefully if they’re sound a bit wacky, but to give you that ultimatum...

As for being older - age has nothing to do with it!

Change the MOH, not your colour scheme.

I can understand if she felt uncomfortable over a low neckline/high hemline or a very tight-fitting dress because we all have different standards of modesty, but throwing a tantrum over a colour you don't like is ridiculous. You don't need that kind of drama in your wedding party.

And don't feel you have to share it if you don't want to, but I'd love to know what colour she's objecting to. I'm trying to work out what shade could possibly be so terrible to ask an 'older' MOH to wear!!!!

Thank you it doesn't matter what colour I would choose she would moan, the dresses are beautiful long and floaty no plunging neck lines as I am a older bride I went with what I would feel like, I am losing my patience with her now x

Good luck, and watch the weight lift off your shoulders once you remove her from the situation! These things are stressful enough without that nonsense xx

She sounds very jealous, and not a happy person. Hopefully the silver lining to such a sad scenario is that you found out before your wedding, when you can make other plans and not have her spoil things further. Hope you have a lovely day.

Glad you’ve gotten rid of her.
At my friends wedding her MOH was terrible this is why I advise to dump yours. My friends MOH gave her the opposite of what the bride requested for a hen do and decided not to show up for the hair and makeup the bride had paid for the morning of the wedding- instead she opted to dye her her the morning of (it went ginger) and instead of the natural look the bride wanted for the maids showed up with basically panda eyes ruining all the photos. My friend has been happily married for 5 years but is still upset by this. Somebody not supporting you isn’t worth the hassle

Like everyone else has said, get a new MOH. Her job is to support you and keep you looking fabulous throughout the day which she is already making about herself. You don't need that kind of energy on one of the happiest days of your life. Find a new one of none at all. Xx

Wow what a as horrible person! I’m glad you’ve got rid of her. You definitely don’t need that type of stress on the day and as for the 10 years younger comment......sounds like you need better friends. X

It's your wedding day if she doesn't like it , then that's tough . Stick to your guns on the colour.

It’s your wedding not hers. If she is saying she won’t be your MoH over a colour scheme then she doesn’t deserve to be your MoH or even friend.
