Dinner music

Daisy, 7 May, 2021 at 10:22 Posted on Planning 0 2

I can't decide whether we need music to be in the background during the wedding breakfast. I'm hoping that conversation will flow and no one will be able to hear any music anyway, but am worried only having 35 people that the room will be too quiet without some music, particularly if there is a lull in conversation at all!

Is it normal for there to be music during dinner at a wedding? Do you think it's needed? I'm thinking of finding an instrumental love songs playlist if we do go for it...

Truthfully, I can’t remember if any of the weddings I’ve been to had background music during the wedding breakfast! We are having it though. We’ve got 60 for the wedding breakfast. Our venue provides background music, just a cd of easy listening etc. If at any point we decide it’s not needed we can always have it turned off

Yes almost always there is background music playing, -easy listening - low level. Depending on your venue they will usually supply it "piped" through their system.

I have seen at a couple of covid weddings I did last year the venues did not want to risk any rule breaking by piping music as even though the law did allow it at a level not so loud that people would have to raise their voices to be heard. But they were happy to let the bride and groom play their own music and a blue tooth speaker was all that was needed for a low level background atmosphere. But I would suggest if you do this that you have a few speakers dotted around otherwise its too loud for those close by and not loud enough for those at the back.
