DIY cheque book? *flash*

21 October, 2013 at 15:36 Posted on Planning 0 13

Has anyone made these? I saw some at a wedding fair and really liked them. The one I saw had a perforated RSVP slop to return with menu choices. Here's a flash of an inspiration picture. I'd like to have a go at making them myself. Am I being over ambitious?!

That's amazing! I don't see why you couldn't make them - how long until W Day?

I haven't made them myself, but they don't look like they would be too hard to make.

I'd imagine they would be quite time consuming though if you have lots of them to do?

I found a brief tutorial here which might help you...

Regards the perforation, I bought a fairly cheap guillotine from Hobby Craft and it has different settings, one of which is a perforator so you could get something like that for that step ;-)

The cheque book invitations are one of my most popular designs. Their slim in design and a nice size for posting.

They are very time consuming to make. The other month I made 100 and it took me just over 14 hours to complete. That's with printing, cutting the card for the inserts and outer, cutting ribbon to length, sticking down the fronts, punching and gluing embellishments to them.

My RSVPs are also on a perforation to tear out and sent back. This is simple as the others say with a cutter and perforation blade.

Here are just a few of the ones I've created:

I would say the the binding would be the tricky area. You could with glue gun into the fold but it could get messy OR hole punch it and tie them together with ribbon!

    Hi

We did these and they were unbelievably simple, the feedback from guests was amazing. We bought everything from PDA and just printed them using our normal printer - it took a little bit of faffing to get everything aligned but once that was done, they flew through. We had the perforated slip which plenty of people used, and they were also pre-punched so we just bound with ribbon. That was a little time-consuming as the holes on the PDA ones are so tiny but a nail scissors and tweezers did the job nicely!

Ours were a very simple design with our names stamped and embossed on the front but the result was simple and elegant!

Why don't you give it a go and see how it turns out?

If you end up screaming more than rejoycing with the results, drop the idea and think something else.

I'd play with it for the next 6 weeks, see what you've got and still have time to decide either to but it or go for something else before your January deadline comes Smiley smile
