DIY Converse bridal shoes, blingy! *FLASH*

foxxy88, 11 February, 2015 at 09:34 Posted on Planning 1 13

Hey Ladies,

I asked around a while ago for any recommendations on who would be best to purchase bling bridal converse from - thank you for your replies Smiley smile

In the end I decided to have a go myself. I searched around for tutorials and what bits to buy. The crystals I have used are Swarovski's latest crystal which is the closest gem to a diamond on the market - blingalicious! I've also got white ribbon laces for them but will only put them on the shoes closer to the date so they don't get all creased etc.

Please let me know what you think! I think I need to add something to the sides, but not sure that what to do. Maybe the date? or like random dotted around gems?

Thanks,

x

They look brilliant - so clever! I think you should try putting the date on the side, that would be very cool.

    Ooh, pretty!

I'm liking the idea of these for comfort, but I'm short enough as it is lol, so want a pair of heels to feel better ?.

Date sounds good, or follow a stencil pattern

    They look amazing! Well done!

I am going for Vans too, and thinking of trying to do my own. This has given the nudge to try at least!

    These are FAAAAAAB, love them.

Hoping to do something like this fow my flower girl who is very un-girly so thought this would be a fun way of incoroperating pretty shoes into her outfit without them being ones she hates.

I would love some info on where you got stuff from, how much it cost (if you dont mind me asking) and how you done them. I'd be so grateful.

    there gorgous

    xx

    Guide

Okay do rather than rip off someone else's guide, heres the one I found most useful: http://www.crystalandglassbeads.com/blog/2011/how-to-make-swarovski-crystal-converse.html

    Ready made shoes

For those of you who wants to buy them, these were the sites I was looking at before I decided to make my own:

    http://www.sapphiressparkles.co.uk

    http://www.betsybling.co.uk

    https://www.etsy.com/uk/people/ipek80

Here's some links/details for the bits you'll need:

Nail file – from you nail box of tricks again, to take off the smooth surface so the glue has something to bond too

Isopropyl Alcohol – just to clean the area of debris from the filing and any oil from your fingerprints. Any ladies who do their own gel nails, its the same alcohol used for cleaning the nail before you start any work. (Cant recommend this website - just googled it)

    http://www.tnbl.co.uk/tnbl-pure-isopropyl-alcohol-250ml.html?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=datafeed&utm_campaign=google-shopping&gclid=CKqzsZf728MCFagfwwodAmoAgA

Cuticle stick – just one from your nail box will be fine, just helps pushing them gem about in the glue to get the right positioning

Glue – E6000 is deemed the best

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191485387364?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Laces – they do other lengths and colours, be-aware some of their laces come with a logo stamped on the end of the lace – the ones in this link are plain

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141543857848?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=440692576677&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Gem picker-upper – use a normal pencil sharpener

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280932768826?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Gems – this website is really good and cheaper than others for branded crystals. I bought the below (I bought 400 SS16 and 100 SS12, my shoes are a size 5 and I have about a bag and a bit left for SS16 and just over half a bag left of SS12 - I have done the front and backs)

SS16 for majority of shoe (I used clear, AB is sorta multicoloured) https://crystalparade.co.uk/crystals/swarovski-crystals/swarovski-flatback-non-hotfix/swarovski-non-hotfix-small-packs/xirius-small/ss16-4mm-swarovski-xirius-no-hotfix-flatback-crystals

SS12 to fill in the gaps (I used clear, AB is sorta multicoloured) https://crystalparade.co.uk/crystals/swarovski-crystals/swarovski-flatback-non-hotfix/swarovski-non-hotfix-small-packs/xirius-small/ss12-3-2mm-swarovski-xirius-no-hotfix-flatback-crystals

Just a little update.. I'm going to be attempting to do some side scatter, just bought another 5 bags of the small crystals. I can see me going crossed eyed with this and waking up with crystals stuck to my face..
