DIY hair and make up trial flashes all over the place sorry!

Mispinkprincess, 3 August, 2014 at 15:49 Posted on Planning 0 22

So I had a trial of my DIY hair and make up for my 1950s theme wedding Took me 2 hours so will leave 3 on the day (?) I've taken photos outside, inside, up close ad of the back.

The issues I have are flashback, need a diff foundation, the curls haven't taken that well and need to curl the ends a bit too, the back needs neatening up with will have BMs on the day to help with that, need better lashes just using cheapies.

What do you think?

I think you look stunning, love the look, it's exactly what I'm going for. Think you've got the balance exactly right with the dark eyes and red lips without going OTT.

Also agree with the flashback issue, just find a different foundation. It looks great outside though so it's a really good colour match.

Hi this is a link for the curling tongs that I use - they really are the best I've ever used and can highly recommend them.

You are really pretty and the look is awesome. I think the hair and make-up styles you've gone for are perfect for your 50's theme.

Absolutely stunning! What colour do you use on your hair, it's lovely! I'd all but given up dying mine red as it washes out so quick but having gone back to brown for all of two months I want my red hair back!

It's actually a Superdrug own! They sell 2 boxes for £7 but it does rub off onto light clothes!

Good ?, wish I was talented enough to do my own.

By the way, I've just read a thing about makeup suitable for selfies and everyone seems to be raving off the corn silk face powder (proper old school makeup, not sure if you can get it on the high street, it maybe an online purchase only)

Ooh, you look amazing! See what you mean on the flashback though, I've now realised that means I need to take some photos in different lights as I'm doing my own too!

Does it rub off even after you've given it a normal wash or just after having first dyed it? (sorry to hijack!)

Shameless self promotion - I wrote about flashback here: http://themake-updoctor.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/flashback.html

So at least you'll get to grips with why your foundation did what it did and what to avoid when looking for another!

The cornsilk powder is potentially a "blocker". MUA's sometimes layer products so for example, you get the cover of Doublewear (flashback city) but "block" the flashback ingredients with a fine powder by covering them up.

It's possible to do - and works better on a fair skin. Personally I would rather use a product that didn't flash back - let me know how you get on in your search! Smiley xd

So potentially if I bought the cornsilk I could use a foundation that would have a flashback usually?

im really pale so always look a bit ghostly in pictures, how can I judge which is normal pale vs from my foundation?

loved the blog post, the ingredient lists are useful!
