DIY wedding venue - help...

beep, 18 April, 2013 at 14:40 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi everyone

Does anyone have any suggestions for a diy wedding location in south west England? My partner and I are very creative so like the idea of having a place we can put our own stamp on.

We would like some on site accommodation if possible as there will be a number of international guests

We’re happy to do a registry wedding and just have a reception so don’t need licenses etc.

I like the idea of some cottages with space for a party but happy for any suggestions – barn, shed etc

Approx 50 guests, although not everyone would need to stay there.

We’re both originally from outside the UK so our knowledge is limited and I would be very very happy for any pointers

?

    Hi,

We are having our reception at Cranberries Hideaway in Kilmington, Devon. It is a lovely farm which the owner has converted into holiday cottages. There is a large barn which he has converted with a bar for functions. It is very reasonably priced and they are very flexible. The website is fairly new so not lots of pictures, but you can find them on facebook. It deffinitly takes some imagination when you first see it as they tend to store a bucking bronko and bouncy castle in there, but obviously you are up for the challenge!

Thanks so much, I had a quick look and looks like it's on the right track.

    I'll drop them a mail.

Hope your reception is wonderful Smiley smile

I went to a wedding at Polhawn Fort about 9 years ago. They hired the place for the week, and had pre and after parties as well as the wedding itself. Absolutely stunning setting, as well as a private beach for photos!

You could always try village halls? Except no accommodation! We are getting married in a lovely village hall it's costing us only £150 and we have the whole day before to set it up! We are getting lots of bunting and fairy lights to decorate it and also putting drapes on all the walls. Having it in a village hall also means we supply our own alcohol with no corkage fee Smiley smile
