Do airport shops get paperbacks early?

I'm pretty sure you can get newish books in paperback from Airport shops before they go on general release in paperback, but Mr Hole thinks I'm 'having a moment'.

There's a book I'd like but it's in hardback at the mo, it has been out a while so I'm thinking I could pick it up in paperback at the airport.

Am I right or am I making stuff up? ?

    Yes - they definitely do.

    Most of my books these days come from WHSmith Books at Luton airport. They always have a 4-for-3 offer, or something similar on their airport exclusives. Including Mrs Jess's book (I made sure that wasn't the free one ?)

    Oh, that's excellent news - I was holding out on buying Mrs Jess's til we fly in four weeks. Am v pleased it'll be there as have ear-marked it for my holiday read!

    I had a boyfriend who used to work in publishing, and I seem to recall him saying there are "airport paperbacks" - specific editions printed only for airports, and published before the normal size paperbacks. So yes, you're absolutely correct - hurrah!

    Trade paperbacks you often get from online book clubs and people like The Book People as well. Not sure why though.

    I can thoroughly recommend Jess' book - I couldn't put it down. And, as an added bonus, "Mothership" gets a mention. ?

    There are so many Hitchedisms in the book, I'm sure all deliberate. But it added an extra level of entertainment, spotting them. And name checks as well.

    It's a brilliant read btw.
