I was quite sceptical and didnt know what to expect.
It was all very weird. The first time was all about my mother - she passed away 11 years ago now from breast cancer. She told me that she no longer has to wear her wig as she has lovely hair now 'up there'.
She also told me several other things that she couldnt possibly have known.
When i went just before the wedding, what she told me was astounding. She told me that Mr Tarts dad Colin (she named him) will be there (she knew I was getting wed and what month) watching us and will be so proud. She said that he would like Mr T to wear 2 roses in his buttonhole, one for him too and that he will try his best to help him with his crevat as he knows he will be useless at it.
She said that as my nan had also passed (we never got on), she would like to say sorry for certain views that she had expressed when she was alive - spot on, but would rather not say what went on. My nan and mum were apparantly 'thrashing out' their diferences up there too over buckets of tea as they both drunk gallons when down here.
She said that my sister in America was fine but a little 'snowed under'. My sister was in Boston at the time on holiday with heavy snow and couldnt get a flight back home.
She also knew that my mum had 10 children and I myself had lost a baby when I was 18. She went as far as to say that my mum had my little boy with her.
She said that my mum was beside me brushing my hair - something she loved to do even up until I was 20.
All of a sudden she asked me if I heard that. When I said what, she said that my mum just called me. I just laughed and forgot about it but when I replayed the tape a few months later - as clear as a bell, my mums voice called my nickname. Now, when I play the tape it's gone. I was doing the washing up at the time and just froze with shock.
I can't remember other things but I couldnt believe how accurate this woman was.
I have an appointment with her at the end of April and am actually looking forward to it.
I'm no fool and do not live my life by what this woman has said in the past and she certainly didnt pick on the fact that I was grieving and heard what I wanted to as mum had died years before and I was by no means upset iyswim. I wasnt a member of any facebook or sharing group at the time so ruled out that she had googled me!
I just wondered whether anyone believes in the afterlife and spirit world.
Do you have any stories to tell?

FWIW, whilst I don't believe that there is anything other than cold reading in terms of people having psychic ability and being able to contact the dead, I have seen two ghosts (for want of a better word) and a third supernatural experience.

I was not sad/in need of comfort at the time so firmly believe that somehow I had seen ghosts.

I haven't read the whole thread, but using Derren Brown as an example - how the hell does he do it? Cold reading? I've never seen anyone do it so accurately (admittedly I've not seen many "try"), Mr Acorah wasn't very good at all in comparison ?

But how can DB get it all SO right - specific stuff? [head explodes]

The sceptic in me thinks its all bollocks.
    But......
    How about Premonitions??
Again, I would have said load of old Bollocks until I actually had one which came true.
I am very aware that this makes me sound like a complete nutter, by the way!

Going back a few pages to where people were saying religion/christianity is bollocks, to those of you that think this, do you think that Jesus didn't exist then?

i'm pretty sure there's proof that Jesus was a real historical figure, but that doesn't make him the son of god
    David Icke is real too.

I have a pencil tattoo too, although mine was self inflicted.

I was playing with a pop a point pencil <yup, im that old> and decided to see what would happen if i held the pencil against my face whilst i popped the old point into the base (for those who dont know what these pencils are, they had lots of little plastic lead holders, and when the lead ran out, you popped the empty holder into the end of the pencil and it popped the new one up)
    thus impaling myself on lead.

I think religion/Christianity is a load of old hogwash.

I believe that Jesus existed certainly but merely as a historical figure not as any kind of saviour

Who knows? We don't actually know if he did do we? Where is the proof? I went to Egypt and Israel when I was younger "Here is the place where Jesus was born" and it's now some part of a huge church where each religion has their little areas, how do they know that? How do they know the actual route he walked with his cross?

I know what you mean ? they were all different coloured plastic bits.

Back to the topic, I thought the last medium I saw was rubbish. 'I have a man here named Bill' How many people don't know a Bill that died? In my case it was my grandad but am aware of the coincidence. She told me I would change my job where I am helping people more. OK, so I no longer write mortgages but do all the liasing with the clients/solicitors/lenders. Does that count?

But the one thing she did say was that my roof would be damaged in storms. It's ok though as my insurance would cover it. But to check the insurance when I got home. Sure enough, I got home and that day I had a letter saying they'd been unable to collect my premiums and if I didn't act now my insurance would be cancelled. Is she also the postman do you think?

In the recent storms my roof was indeed damaged.

Well worth the 'donation' I gave her I think ?

    ?
I've not read all of this so apologies if this has already been raised.

I've not seen DB or anyone else do a cold reading but I've heard about them and have done some reading up on the net after Nick's suggestion. I find it fascinating and it makes complete sense to me in an 'audience' situation or a situation where the reader says vague things and watches for responses.

    butttt... here's what I don't understand.

Someone close to me rang a 'psychic' for an appointment and gave no information about herself, not even her name. When she turned up the 'psychic' said 'you had a daughter after your first son and didn't give her a name, she is sad about this and would like you to name her' This is true and this person hadn't told her own sisters about it, she also didn't have a chance to give anything away as it was the first thing that was said.

I'd love to know how a cold reader would do that?

I thought it was a good question and was waiting for someone to answer. The only suggestion I have is that a lot of women have miscarriages and in previous generations it wasn't talked about as openly as we do now. So it's a fairly safe bet for a cold reader to guess that a baby has been lost. One of my exes' mother raved about a pyschic she'd seen who "knew" that she'd lost a girl in between her 2 boys. But it's probably more common than we realise.

    To NickJ

I spoke to my Mum tonight so i may as well update you on here rather than wait till friday for a reply.
Well to cut a long story short, no. I'm not shocked tbh.
She said she's done reading for people similar to you before. She gave one example of a group of people who she gave a reading to. All came in one at a time. The first person she saw, she did her thing, and everything she said wasn't true. The other two people she saw highlighted the fact that the first person she saw was lying, and that infact everything my Mother had said was true and the lady just said it wasn't for some odd reason.
So in short, she doesn't see why she should waste her time when you could do the same. Plus i've forwarded her on some of your posts and i get the impression she wouldn't want to talk to you anyway.
    Sorry.

Well she couldn't win really could she? If she said yes, it would have been a 'fix' because LaL apparently knows stuff about Nick, if she said no it's because she can't do it.

Anyway, put your spoon away, you only bounced because you saw Nick had posted ?
