I went to see a psychic a few years ago and then just before I got wed.
I was quite sceptical and didnt know what to expect.
It was all very weird. The first time was all about my mother - she passed away 11 years ago now from breast cancer. She told me that she no longer has to wear her wig as she has lovely hair now 'up there'.
She also told me several other things that she couldnt possibly have known.
When i went just before the wedding, what she told me was astounding. She told me that Mr Tarts dad Colin (she named him) will be there (she knew I was getting wed and what month) watching us and will be so proud. She said that he would like Mr T to wear 2 roses in his buttonhole, one for him too and that he will try his best to help him with his crevat as he knows he will be useless at it.
She said that as my nan had also passed (we never got on), she would like to say sorry for certain views that she had expressed when she was alive - spot on, but would rather not say what went on. My nan and mum were apparantly 'thrashing out' their diferences up there too over buckets of tea as they both drunk gallons when down here.
She said that my sister in America was fine but a little 'snowed under'. My sister was in Boston at the time on holiday with heavy snow and couldnt get a flight back home.
She also knew that my mum had 10 children and I myself had lost a baby when I was 18. She went as far as to say that my mum had my little boy with her.
She said that my mum was beside me brushing my hair - something she loved to do even up until I was 20.
All of a sudden she asked me if I heard that. When I said what, she said that my mum just called me. I just laughed and forgot about it but when I replayed the tape a few months later - as clear as a bell, my mums voice called my nickname. Now, when I play the tape it's gone. I was doing the washing up at the time and just froze with shock.
I can't remember other things but I couldnt believe how accurate this woman was.
I have an appointment with her at the end of April and am actually looking forward to it.
I'm no fool and do not live my life by what this woman has said in the past and she certainly didnt pick on the fact that I was grieving and heard what I wanted to as mum had died years before and I was by no means upset iyswim. I wasnt a member of any facebook or sharing group at the time so ruled out that she had googled me!
I just wondered whether anyone believes in the afterlife and spirit world.

I don't believe, but take an interest in it so have been to see psychics perform (and cold readers).

Even though I don't believe, I went to see a psychic with my sister when I visited her - she lives in the N East. The psychic gave us a message about our dad's health; we had no clue what she was talking about but when we spoke to mum later she confirmed what the psychic had said (a very specific example of a fairly unusual condition). The psychic also struggled to pronounce a Welsh name that she said had meaning - she'd never heard of it before. It was the name of the place where my sister was born.

Despite this I still have seen more evidence to the contrary about psychics and clairvoyants; endless examples of people getting it so very wrong. I have noticed that people will focus on the things that are right but ignore all the things that the psychic told them that they can't 'place' - the woman in the N East said some other stuff that made no sense to us but the correct things do stand out.

I don't beleive in the slightest in the spirit world or the after life. I try and remain open minded, and tell myself there isn't any proof either way, so it could just as easily exist as not, but it doesn't work very well ?

I am fascinated by cold reading though.

Hmm, I dont really know at all. The woman I went to see started to tell me about my grandad who died when I was 1 years old. The woman started to struggle with her breathing saying it was my grandad and he must of suffered terribly from a lung condition. She frighted the frikking life out of me I thought she was going to keel over in front of me ?. Up until then I had never actually knew what he had died of so she could not of picked that up from me. I went home and asked my Mum what he had died of and sure enough it was a lung condition. She told me other stuff that was true but could of been very general.

I am open minded about these orts of things.

In my opinion? Complete nonsense.

An ex of mine is a magician who now works on the Derren Brown shows and The Real Hustle. He showed me just how easy it is to learn all this stuff, from the basic 'Think of a vegetable' (most common answer is carrot) and 'Think of a number' stuff up to the cold reading psychic 'abilities'.

Anyone who is convinced that they are being contacted from the otherside should just look up what Derren Brown does. I find it facinating the methods used for cold reading but he makes it quite clear that its just a case of learning the methods and body language.

My mother has the ability.

We have grown up with it all our lives so we take it in our stride. If she senses something is going to happen to one of us she will ring a give us a warning.
Again we take it in our stride. She drew up astral charts when we were each born and gave them to us on our eightenth birthdays and it is uncanny how correct it is.
She tells us that she has spirit guides and that mine is apparently a larger gentleman with bad teeth. He is apparently holding me on the shoulders and telling my mother to ensure I slow down, I like to get things done quickly!!

Nothing bad has ever happened and I have been able to avoid certain situations due to my mothers ability, but we have never really lived our lives by it.

I went to a reading last night. I go more out of interest to see if they can 'pick up' anything which is going on in my life at the moment and for guidence about things i am not sure about.
I wouldnt however start buying blue baby outfits though if they said I was due to have a baby boy next year for example.

Some of you may have seen I have been talking about going back to college in sept to do a hairdressing course which would be a totally new thing for me and I havent told many people I was thinking about it (and my mum doesnt even know yet)

anyway me and my friend arrived and we sat down and while i was shuffling the cards the first thing she came out with was she could see me doing a college course and it will help me alot and get me out and about and give me more of a social life.
I was totally gob smacked as it was the main thing I wanted guidance about. I know alot of people go to college and it could of been coincidental that it just happened to be told to me during this reading when i just happened to be looking into college but still ?

she also mentioned loads of other stuff as well which was spot on and i cant wait to watch the rest of the year and see what happens.

None of it is truly coincidental. The reader will have weighed you up according to age, gender, race, apparent social class and countless other little tells, and made a statistical "best guess" about your life and desires.

It really isn't very difficult.

My mother has never done private readings, she doesnt even do them for us, just gives us warnings.

Once, as I was leaving she asked if I had RAC cover for my NEW car, and I said "yes". She seemed happy with that.

Later in the day (my car was only 6 months old) I broke down with a burst radiator pipe.

Not sure coincidental, but it made me laugh.

That is how she makes sure we are ok, she doesnt actually tell us anything.

Well everyone has their own opinion and i have mine which are different to yours lol

this wasnt the only thing she said which was true and i have seen her before and this is the first time in 10yrs i have thought about going to college so its not something she planted in my mind or anything i would be known to do

if anyone had said anything about me thinking i would go to college even as early as last monday i would of laughed at them as it really wasnt something i thought i would go back to i'm not academically minded at all!
i think at the end of the day there are always going to be different beliefs in this and people should just accept that and not be made fun of or laughed at for having a different opinion.

Indeed. The sitters belief (or not) has no influence on the validity of the reading being performed.

Psychic powers either exist or they don't.

In the total absence of any evidence for the former, I will continue to believe the latter. I will be delighted to be proved wrong.
