Do you have a gift for yourself this Christmas?

Dany, 17 December, 2020 at 08:32 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

Hi,

How is everyone doing? I hope you guys are all well this Christmas season. It's almost here and yet, some are still living in lockdown places trying to make sense of this pandemic.

I've thought, I'd want to reward myself for surviving this situation so far. I'm sure most of us here would love a reward for ourselves.

So tell me, what would be the best gift you can give to yourself this Christmas? I plan on buying myself a pup since I only live with my boyfriend, how about you? Smiley heart

Oh my god congrats on the pup! Any breeds in mind?! We just got a Cavapoo a couple of months ago and he's changed our lives!

I'm buying myself a PT for the new year - espec. as I'm now expected to get into a wedding dress!

Cavapoo's are so cute! I'm planning on getting either of the two, husky or beagle. Both were being sold to me by friends but I can only get one with my budget so do you have something to share about the two? Thank you!

Just dropping by and thought I could share this one that I’ve stumbled upon while I looked for articles that give advice on how to be resilient at work and life during this crisis. I hope that anyone who reads this will find some good advice too as I have. Merry Christmas. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/mental-health-non-healthcare.html

Oh wow! A Husky needs a lot of exercises. Keep in mind these were bred for pulling sleds and such. They're real working dogs and will become unhappy when they don't get enough action, this may result in unruly behavior like shredding a couch... A Beagle is a stubborn dog and needs a consequent owner ( well all dogs do, but Beagles are just a little more stubborn)

Both make wonderful companions for the right person. Good luck making a choice!

Read up on the dogs and choose wisely, a dog is there for it's lifetime. Also...male or female? This can also be important regarding dominant behavior and such!

I chose husky as I've found out that beagles can be very moody sometimes, also, Huskies are great outdoors so I'm looking forward to playing with her at the park a lot! Yes, the pup's a she! Smiley laugh

Great choice! But if adoption is possible there, why not just adopt some dogs so they can finally get to experience being with a better family. Smiley smile

I don't want this to come off the wrong way but a husky is probably a bad bet. I get the impression you've never owned a dog before, and are still in the consideration stage; a husky is a dominant and stubborn dog and has boundless energy.

If you want a pet for around the house, a Labrador is a tried and tested family dog. They like food so can be easily trained, and can be given the correct exercise in public spaces.

If you are still thinking husky, have a plan for socializing it, training, and dealing with a high energy dog that you can't let off the lead because it has behavioral issues. The dream could quickly become a nightmare. Good luck!

Thanks for the sound advice, Carol. I'll definitely think this through before getting a pup. Smiley smile
