Does anyone like liver?

Pittabre, 4 December, 2008 at 10:41 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

I went out for a meal last night and for the starter had chicken livers and lardoons (sp) on a salad - or something like that anyway. The chicken liver tasted a bit odd but not sure whether it was the liver or just me. Liver is something I always expect to enjoy but never quite do. So anyone that enjoys liver can you describe to me what the taste should be like so I can tell whether it was me or the liver ?

I like liver, but it's normally lamb's liver (I think) so bigger than a chicken liver. I flour it then fry it, it's very rich in flavour but also a very dry texture. I actually think it taste a bit like duck but so many people laugh at me for saying this.

    I've never tried chicken livers.

I love (cow?) liver with bacon and mashed potato & mashed swede & gravy...?, but I know I could never make it as good as my nan did.

I love liver but for the life of me can't think how to describe the taste to you. I think the answer is to have chicken livers again and see if it tastes the same. FWIW if it's cooked badly liver can taste awful.

I've never tried liver, the smell alone of liver cooking is enough to make me leave a house, it just turns my stomach.

It's the one thing that I dread being served at a dinner party as I just wouldn't be able to take a bite.

I adore calf's liver, can take or leave chicken liver and have never tried lamb's liver.

KB3, I understand exactly what you mean about duck. For me it's a combination of the richness and meatiness with the soft texture- flavour without resistance.

I hate (lambs?) liver as liver and bacon etc but do like chicken liver etc in terrines and pate. I've never eaten non pate'd chicken liver.

My cousin wouldn't liver when he knew it was liver but quite happily ate it when his mum told him it was velvet steak. Thankfully my mum wasn't so mean. ?
