Does anyone remember the computer game 'Granny's Garden'?

Clairebecky, 11 August, 2008 at 22:00 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 33

I was talking to our IT guy at work today and he'd never heard of it!

I used to love it though, as a child. We never had a home computer, but my Dad was a Headmaster and used to bring one home from school in the holidays for us to use. I used to jump like mad when the witch jumped out!

Tell me I'm not alone?

I remember playing this at school! We used to love it and got to play it after we'd done all of our work.

Hmmm possibly, I remember Chuckie Egg (I think?) better.

BTW does anyone remember those games where you had to go N, W, E, NW etc into different rooms and then search for things. They were text games. I want to search for them but can't think what they're called!

Yeah that's the one! I remember thinking how amazing the games were!

I also remember programming flashing screens and making squares and circles on the BBC. Oh and simple maths programs. Those were the days ?

Oh I loved that game. Why can't you buy it in North America though?

There is probably a whole generation of hitchers who have absolutely no idea what we are talking about (anyone under the age of 30!)

Anyone remember Mathemagical adventure... that was another one of my faves.

Didn't have granny's garden at school, we had Camping. You could get certificates if you did things in the right order or did the right thing in a situation!

My earliest memory of the BBC computer at school was "cat and mouse" where you had to get the mouse away from the cat by answering sums. This was at my taster day before I started primary school and that was 25 years ago!

    eekk!

Yes, I used to love Granny's Garden. There were only about 2 BBC computers in the school so you'd get a go about once a term!

My mum used to go in and help my sister's class and they played Geordie Racer. I still think it's hilarious as she's the most untechie person ever and only learnt how to use a PC about 5 years ago. 20 years ago she didn't have a clue.

Loved Granny's Garden and Chuckie Egg.

I was lucky when my Dad got some disks with hundreds of BBC games on, and I used to spend hours playing them at home.

Then when CE was played at school I totally kicked arse and the other kids that would pick on me for being a swot were amazed that I could beat them all?

I loved Granny's Garden! I can hear the music now! We had a BBC B at home and my sister and I used to spend hours on it. When I left home in 1996 we didn't have a telly and my old boyfriend and I used to play on the BBC B instead.

I loved Chuckie Egg and Frogger and the pac man ones, and REPTON! I have played that recently and was amazed how many of the tricky bits my Dad had taught me how to do as a kid had stuck in my brain. Repton was brilliant!

I used to love all those old games - the sound of a tape loading up the game for my brother to play was the sound of rainy days in our house. And then when he got older I was his programming gimp - he used to get magazines that had programmes for games in them and he'd make me read them out, "10: Goto line 20 20: If greater than 5 goto line 30 if less than 5 goto line 40" etc. He was a mean big brother ?

I remember playing that! The graphics were simple, but the suspense of waiting for the witch to appear was intense. It’s funny how those early games could still get your heart racing kind of like how some modern indie games keep things basic but still manage to be really gripping.

Yes, I remember this game, but it's outdated, and I don't like wasting time. To combine gaming and fun, I use Jumbo88 official . It pleasantly surprised me with the quality of the graphics and the variety of games. I log in every day to play and receive daily bonuses. Even when I don't win, I still feel the excitement and the desire to try again. I participated in two tournaments and won a prize, received real money on redeem, and everything went smoothly.

Wow, reading this really brought back memories! I used to spend hours on Granny’s Garden as a kid, completely absorbed in solving the puzzles and exploring the little world they built. It’s amazing how those early educational games can stick with you over the years. Recently, I stumbled upon the Egypts Book of Mystery demo while browsing some online game reviews, and it reminded me of that same sense of curiosity and discovery. The demo lets you explore the game mechanics without any risk, which is great for testing whether the gameplay feels engaging before committing. On sites like Casinos Analyzer, I’ve noticed they provide detailed reviews and even demo modes for games, making it easier to find quality options without spending real money. It’s really convenient to compare features and learn about different games in one place.

Lately I’ve been trying to figure out how to tell if user feedback on casino reviews is real. I once trusted a bunch of super-positive comments about a roulette site, but when I actually tried it, everything felt completely different. It made me wonder how many of those reviews were genuine. How do you spot fake feedback in those comment sections?

I get what you mean, because I once fell for a stream of overly enthusiastic comments that all sounded like they were written by the same person. After that, I started paying attention to little details, like whether people mention specific features or just repeat generic phrases like “great site” or “fast payouts.” One thing that helped me was checking a review site where users tend to give more detailed replies, even when they’re positive. Real feedback usually includes small personal moments—like how long verification took or how support handled an issue—stuff bots or hired reviewers rarely add. I also look at the timing: if ten glowing comments appear within minutes, it’s usually a red flag. It’s not foolproof, but it filters out most of the obvious fakes.
