Donation to Catholic Church for ceremony

Shee, 25 February, 2021 at 12:59 Posted on Planning 0 1
Hi all,

Just wondering if anybody on here has any clue as to how much the Catholic Church charges for marriage ceremonies, or if they don’t charge but it’s an expected donation?I’ve seemed information online but it’s varies so much and I’m stumped!
We’ve booked with the church, but the topic of money didn’t come up and I feel slightly uncomfortable asking.
Thanks in advance,
Sheelagh

    Hello,

We’re paying £50 for paperwork (since my fiancé isn’t Catholic so we need extra permission). They haven’t mentioned any other charges. I’ll probably donate £100 as well and maybe a gift basket of wine and foodie treats as a thank you to the priest?? No idea for sure though! If you compare it to registrar/celebrant fees outside the registry office, £100-150 is still a lot cheaper!! x
